yes it fits
If so then why would you need to change the header and catalytic converter to have a aftermarket exhaust?
JDM DC2R Cats are shorter than AUDM Cats
so unless you modify the exhaust then it will not fit.

But he would have went and bought a jdm catback,went to have it fitted and half way through realised the catback is too long for his aussie cat and have to put it back on and go buy a jdm cat.

JDM and AUDM catback is the same LENGTH. Not too sure if the AUDM cat will fit the J's B-pipe, unless you cut the AUDM cat and flange it so that it fits the Catback. But yes, you cannot run JDM cat with AUDM header. The AUDM header outlet is tiny compared to say a Toda header outlet.
lol. i have JDM headers on my car, why does my AUDM cat bolt up to it? if a AUDM cat bolts up to a JDM header then no doubt JDM cat would do the sameQuote:

If the catback exhaust is a jdm branded one, then you need a JDM cat +jdm dc2r headers
9 as a bolt on ) or you get a custom cat to suit the headers/catback
But if the catback exhaust is custom then the b piping can be modified to suit the cat/headers.
But to be honest you are better off getting a new after market cat as the cat itself wil be 10+ years old.

If you change any section of your audm exhaust system to a jdm part, you need to either get some custom work done, or replace the rest of the system with jdm parts. The only piece that is excluded from this is the axle back which is the same on the audm and jdm exhaust system.
^^I'm not sure how you got the 5zigen headers to fit. Is 5zigen an American brand? That's the only way I could see it working

Well I have literally tried to do that exact thing (5zigen header to audm cat on b16 em1) and it DID NOT work. Interested to hear if there is more to the story
