[CU2] upgrade to Flip Key for Accord Euro

I am hoping that someone could post or send me a picture of the new flip keys for the Euro.

Very keen to see if I can upgrade my MY10 euro keys to the new flip keys.
Has anyone done that yet with their older keys? I imagine that it will be quite expansive to get it done through dealerships.
Hoping maybe I can get a cheaper clone from oversea and then get the keys done locally.
If anyone had experience with this conversion, please give me some ideas on the best way to go about this.

I use a Genuine Acura TSX flip key with my CU2 and it works fine. (TSX and proper Accords in Europe had flip keys from initial release).

Once programmed, the red panic button works on our Euro's as well.

I don't think they do a proper clone of the flip key but rather a conversion where you dismantle your original key and saw out the immobiliser and transplant it into the housing of the clone key?

was it easy to program yourself? or did you get the dealers to do it?

I just bought it off ebay. I don't think heeltoe sells Genuine ones do they - not sure?

Luckily, my dealer offered to program/set up the immobiliser for free if I had the key cut and ready to go.

You can program it to unlock doors by yourself (I think) but only dealers can program the key to start the engine.

I got the TSX flipkey as well.

Had it cut by a suitably equipped locksmith 40 bucks (The shopping centre guys won't touch it) and then had it programmed by Westside Honda during my service for an extra 20 bucks.

Looks and works just like Honda SHOULD HAVE supplied it LOL

and I agree, my old 'normal' key looks like it belongs to a Tarago the more I look at it.

Been working for nearly a year now, never failed me once.

no probs with mine either.. did two set in the end.
one advise, get a good locksmith because i had to cut the key itself 2-3 times to get the proper depth in the end.

These work with CL9?

Nope, the CU2 and CL9 use different remote frequencies. The CL9 Euro also has a different frequency to the CL9 TSX.

Could it just be possible to get the keyfob from a 2011 / 2012 spec Euro here in OZ?

Yes, you can use the facelift Euro keys but like you said they are quite a bit more expensive then importing a Acura key.

I remember reading elsewhere that another member paid around 200-300 dollars for factory flip key upgrade... 'the lot' i assume.

I upgraded to a flip key for my CL9. Was so easy. All you do is remove the remote part where the buttons are out of the original key fob and it was a straight fit into my new remote.. then you take out the imobilzer chip and insert it in the new key.. no programming required. Then I just got the key cut and that was it... so, $16 for the flip key, $20 to cut it.. and that’s it!

I don't suppose this works for a 2008 CU2?

Yes, it does. The key transmitter changed from CL9 to CU2 build rather than year.

Ah so it doesn't really matter which shell you get?

What is the process exactly?
Take the shell and your key to locksmith to get it cut, then go to dealership to program?

for my CU2 key, once you open up the factory key, the buttons and the immobilizer chip can be taken out (in one removable piece) and transplanted easily into the new flip shell. The new flip shell should have its own metal key that needs to be cut by a locksmith who has the specific laser cutting machine.
when I did it, the locksmith had to 're-cut' the keys 4-5 times times to get the right depth into the new blade. Problem with these 'cheaper' shell is that the metal blade quality is not as perfectly made as your factory Honda one.

Ah so if I got a Acura OEM it would be the same, but just higher quality?

Also, how does the 'Panic' button work?

from memory, think the Acura one is thinner and the blade is horizontal, is a bit 'cooler' in my mind, but $$$$$
my key did not have the panic button, but I remember some other member here managed to get his local dealer to get the panic button functioning too, not sure how
but trust me, hitting a panic button won't solve all your problem... :)

Ahh. I see a few on eBay that are shells and ones that are more $$$

If I get a shell, the buttons have to match perfectly yes? And the more $$$ ones include a transponder which has to be programmed?

And yeah lol, just wanted to see what it would do haha
