Def 98 Ron. Ive had a few cases where V Power has made my car sluggish, so i have always stuck to Ultimate or Synergy 8000. You wont have a problem if you follow what the inside of the refill cap says which is "premium unleaded fuel only". Better MPG, power and cleaner for your engine AND envirnoment FTW!
I use BP Ultimate personally. Love it.
BP Ultimate for sure, none of this pissy discount petrol scam...
Mobil is also really good. Its common knowledge that v power is scum. It's made using lower quality products and has a lower shelf life than bp or mobil. Countless cars I have had have gotten fouled plugs after running v power for just 1 week.
I have to say BP Ultimate. I was using 98 Ron for a bit but moved back to BP Ultimate because I could definately feel the car drive a bit smoother and also got more kms out of it.
Only ever use BP Ultimate.
Yep. I actually believe 7/11-Mobil is the best. Car definitely runs smoother than ultimate.
so is 7/11 the same as Mobil now?
would you recommend using 7/11 98 over Shell V-power?
fuel discussions like this are pointless.
Its all dependant on what area you are in, and what servo you get your fuel from.
I've run ultimate from my local servo and only gotten 400km from a tank, highway driving, but from another one, 550, exact same driving.
Also vice versa with v power.
What you really need to do is determine what servos are in your area of filling up.
Then get a tank of of each and see with what one your car runs the best, and stick with that.
^^^ Agreed - this quality of fuel is very dependent on the servo and how often they re-fill the tank.
If you go to a servo that is always quiet there is a good chance you will get old fuel - the longer it sits in their underground tanks the more contamination it can get.
I use Caltex Vortex 98 in my 2 cars and they run fine, my Mrs prefers BP ultimate in hers though, so go figure...
This isnt accurate. bp ultimate at different servos also gives me different kms/results. If this is just a friendly vote then i think people will generally go out and get BP ultimate but i dont see any pros to it. Fuel quality is at the servo tank underneath itself. hope that helps
I recommend taking a dump in your fuel tank over using v power.
The above points are correct, but I do consistently find poor results with v power. Actually never a good result (from multiple areas). From what I've been told its just the formula they use that gives it a poor shelf life compared with other servos but even so I doubt I got old fuel everytime.
Basically any premium fuel other than v power is good IMO.
See, this is why threads like this are totally useless, and all opinion based. Because myself, and my mates both get consistently better results with v power over anything else.
And we live 500km apart.
I use E10, car runs fine with no problems and pulls hard :)

But u need to get the car tuned for it.. But the power differences are definitely noticeable.

Its fine, but doesn't give you any benefits unless your car is tuned on it or the 98ron tune is right on the edge with extreme timing/boost - the 100 will give you a little extra knock protection....

Free rev-range, close to BP Ultimate, but United seemed better.
If i could always run 100Octaine From United, i would, just it's a fair hike to get it for me.
By the way, it's the same price as what they 98 Octane at other servo's so why not.
same price eh... there is one on the way to my missus house so not too bad. i noticed in the west the 100 in united is popping up everywhere and even one with e85
No need to over exaggerate things - the requirement is higher than 98 fuel, but its not "HUGE" - this is all application dependant. Consumption is around 30% higher in most cases. I worked it out a while ago that although you are using more, the cost is still fairly close when comparing money spent/kilometers driven. Obviously the fuel system components will add to the total though...
The consumption comparison is always skewed because generally when going from 98 to E85 there are many more mods done to the engine combo, like forced induction, bigger cams, higher compression pistons. So unless you are simply changing from 98 to E85 and keeping the same set-up (relatively pointless unless its a high end set-up to start with) the general comment of saying that your consumption is doubled is fairly redundant...
