Hey,
I know most of you are gunna say "use the search" But, I am struggling to find a tutorial or a write up on replacing a b16a2 timing belt.
So if you've got a service book can you please scan the timing belt part or even a link to a write up?

Make sure you have a camshaft locking tool when you do it. Last thing you want is the spring loaded cam to spin on you and you don't know which way it went

hold up... you guys are locking the cam in place to loosen the crank pulley bolt? never seen that in any FSM...
logically that sounds like it would make it more difficult to loosen the crank bolt as the belt would be stretching a little bit.

hmmm I don't feel its really necessary to lock the cam in place. It doesn't move that freely.
just ensure the cam/crank markings still line up before you put the new belt on. easy as that
I do timing belts day in day out, and the one thing I have learnt with twin/quad cam engines is to always lock the cam gears in place. It is always better to be safe then sorry. Have seen people end up having a single cam 180 degrees out because a cam gear has spun on them and they have lined it up incorrectly (usually when the cam gear has timing marks 180 degrees apart, like Honda cam gears do)
whats a good way to loosen crank pulley when the engine is on a stand?
Snap On cordless rattle gun or a IR 1000nm 1/2 rattle gun (requires a big compressor)
dont have either and cant afford either.
is there some way i can lock it up?

not gonna work if engine in stand
still very hard when engine on ground.
only way to do it when engine in stand is rattle gun.

I would not recommend doing locking the ring gear as you run the risk of damaging it

I'm also not using a normal breaker bar. I'm using a special hammer impact breaker. Basically a breaker bar that is designed to be hit with a hammer. But from the top, so force is directed downwards. Tried to find a pic on google but not having much success

Look on top of the cam rails, there is holes. A tool goes in the hole which locks the camshaft to the cam rail. I don't advise doing it with this method unless you have the right material bar to put in there, time and time again people use tool hardened steel which just snaps when loaded with a shear force (screwdrivers, punches, etc). Next thing you know you have to fish out the piece of metal stuck in the hole/head or even worse, down the oil gallery.
If the cam does rotate, you can't lose which way it went. The honda cams have very good markings so you would have to be a severe dingus to get a honda cam 180degree out. The crank pulley should be lined up at TDC mark, the cam gears should be lined up with the "UP" facing up and the horizontal marks lined up with the casting marks on the plastic backing.
