It will if your spare key doesn't hold the immobiliser... If it does, it won't start the because it won't be sending a signal to the receiver on the ignition....
Seeing that you used the chip from the spare key, that chip might hold the immobiliser :)
The Key I took the chip out of still works.. inserted it into the ignition and it works... :)
So does that mean a generic key would?
With my family's lancer.. we needed to get mitsubishi to cut the key, because when my sister got a copy from a local keycutter, the key would open the doors, but wouldn't start the engine..
dont tell me I need to buy a Honda Blank... = $100 :thumbdwn: :(
Coz a key itself cant be programmed.. only the chip Im sure!!??
Whomever cut your key should have been able to put the chip into the key you want to use, i think there is a master key for this or some crap like that. Its like a ford courier, you can open any courier door with any courier key, and even crank the motor over, but it wont fire. LOL Now lets not all go out stealing things out of ppls ford couriers
I dont need a chip tho... I dont think so neways.. Just want a Spare Key that works..
get oem =)
If you owned a gemini you could use your house key.
If you had an older model tarago.. you could use a fork ;]
i used a flathead screw driver with my old escort.
stealth if i where you id spend a bit extra and buy oem. problem solved
rx7 series 1 -> Central locking -> jump on roof.. opens all doors and glass boot =)

if you put the transponder in the reciver ( ignition ) then any cut key from anywhere will start the car. its that transponder that makes the key special.
yeah... I realise that now.. but just want a honda key for ma car.. but $100 cmon...
just get a Type R blank off ebay
I dun want some ricey key hehe.. Prelude Type R... lol :p

Unless all transponders are universal for every prelude..
But OEM should be your best bet..
If you dont want to get a OEM key cut with the transponder in it why dont you just change your imobilisor (excuse spelling) then you can use watever key you like
yeah I will try and sort out this business soon enuff ;)
is this what your referring to?
with remote start u can go and get another key cut, as the chip taken from one of your key's disables the factory immobilisor. your alarm is the immobilisor now so u dun use the honda factory immobilisor so just go pick urself a key and that should be it. have u tried cutting another key yet?
