Hmmm, it's nice that the S2k will be available on the market again (although I doubt Aus will get it), but that design seems to be targeting the US market a bit too much. I mean chrome rims, that winglet, chrome windscreen surrounds, it's just chrome and chromer. There's a limit to bling, and honestly, that's too much for me. Rather than call it Modulo they should name it S2000 Type Bling.
I agree. it also kinda looks like they are trying to jam some of their new car styling into a car that well, isn't new styling.
Although it IS a chance for those with the money to be able to pick up an S2000 brand new for a short time :)
and the homepage gets updated :)
Shame it looks a little bland and less aggressive and the styling tuned a little towards the Mazda crowd.
Looks soft even compared to the AP1. AP2 looks ruthless next to this.
Front looks kinda like an EG to me around the bumper, anybody agree?
Curves are out IMO. Angles are back in.
Rear and interior look alright. ChaosMaster has the right of it though - too much chrome.
i would love to help them redesign to smthg like this lol

i did it in 2004, so prolly abit outdated.
eew what am i looking at!
i think honda is trying to be in the next fast and the furious movie... -_-
but maybe if the AP1/AP2 front and rear bumper can fit i guess it might be worth it considering its a brand new car.
and this might help depreciate our current s2ks quicker.

Say again??? LoL
jesus i was hoping no one would put that pic up... so fukin disgusting... i wont look @ another delsol again becsaue of that pic LMAOO
This isn't a concept for a new S2000, it's just a design exercise. A new S2000 will look nothing like this.
DO NONE OF YOU PEOPLE READ?
To be fair he did say new s2000
Hahaha
LOL
Honda should stop banking on the s2000. They need an "enthusiast's" car to compete with the 86s and BRZs. Use the HSV design :D
I don't think there's really much wrong with the S2k. I mean if they did a proper update, and lowered the price to something much more reasonable, then I don't see why it wouldn't sell. I reckon the biggest issue with it was that it was a decade old, yet the price just kept hiking. Why would anyone want to pay more for something out dated? Not to mention the Evo's were available at similar or cheaper prices.
Just a redesigned interior + new front/rear bumper that looks decent will get them a fair few sales + maybe half the price tag will get them somewhere in australia.
Soo far new cars im looking forward to is the new rx-7/9 based on the new 2015 mx-5 chassis
Exactly. 80k is way too much money. I mean the S2k interior was as luxurious as a prison cell. And while 170kw from a 2ltr engine was super impressive back in 99 because v8s were struggling to make that amount, it's really nothing special in this day an age where competition from hot hatches easily eclipse in performance. Maybe if it made 250kw, we could excuse it.
Very true, hot hatches these days are fun, practical and fast, its become a hard world for honda, if they re-released it in Australia again for 80k i would be more happy to pay a premium in servicing bmw 135i than the s2k. Soo the chances a pretty low for re-release in australia as the 86/brz is the car of value and fun and price way competitively compared to honda's best sport car (hot hatch i should say) the Cr-Z. I love my s2k to hell but if i shopping for new sports it isn't going to be the s2000 unfortunately i will have to say.
I dunno, now thinking about it, i was getting excited but thinking more deeply into it it seems like a bad business purposal for honda. . .
hopefully honda will announce the next generation S line car instead at the next motor show. A Affordable convertible that pushes the 86/brz off the bridge would be come back for honda.
My statement remains true to only looking forward to the new series mazda rx series and the 86/brz as of now
im looking forward to brz sti wooooo
Still wouldnt be as good as the original F20C. I mean now Honda have moved away from VTEC, it will bring it out with the I-VTEC or something else - eitherway the F20C MADE the S2k..
Or turbo charged like the new type r?
If Honda decided to release a S2000 Type R, then perhaps that would sell. Although, not if it has that much Chrome on it. I reckon Honda could squeeze 250kw out of the f20, especially if they're adding all the tech from the new "A-Vtec" which adds DI as well. Then, that would be a proper sports car. I don't get why Honda has been holding back either, especially since nobody is caring about the old 280HP limit in Jap anymore.
For tuners running in GT class races it pretty damn hard to squeeze 300hp out of n/a f20c. The cost will shoot up the roof for 250kw out of the f20c which only has 170kws. It wouldn't be a f series any more and that power is more achievable and affordable in the v6 class which will ultimately make the car heavy (it can be relatively light in if aluminum was used but still. . .) and no 50/50 weight distribution. Honda engines are amazing but lets be honest here, the future is more towards using forced induction as much as i hate it ;C if honda brings a factory vtec turbo that will be interesting. I'll just wait to see what honda is going to announce in the motor show in a month. The new type r sounds interesting if anyone has read about it
I haven't. Link?
Yeah I was thinking just that - turbo. Everybody is doing it and you wonder how long Honda will stick to the whole NA thing. They've done turbo cars before...
Saw this while at TAS...

hnnnnggg that mugen crz
250kw maybe a bit too high, but they need at least 210kw to make it special. I'm not saying put a V6 in there, but there should be various other mods that Honda can implement to increase the power. Don't forget that the F20 is over a decade old. There are tons of aftermarket parts for it and heaps have been put into R&D. Considering they are charging $80k for a 14 year old car, they should either drop the price dramatically, or do something about it to justify it having such a high price tag. A BMW Z4 can be had for the same price, and it's easily more luxurious and faster in the straight line. Not to mention 250kw can be achieved atw for a k24 powered CL9 with $15k worth of parts, I would say the F20 should easily break the 200kw barrier.
Did anyone spot a tube & fin black intercooler in the concept photo?
Bar and plate
Nice that it is coming back but the chrome in the front and on the window trim is to much.
If they are going to bring them back , will the be priced at the same level as the prvious gens or there are going to be huge reduction in pricing.
I am tossing up between a used s2k Ap2 or the new Gts86.
The s2000 is just a different car all together, I just like it how they are just so rare these days. The 86 is the next s15. everyone will be driving it and ricing it up.
Although I must admit, the handling and driving experince was better in the 86 but the s2000 had more grunt and very similar weight distribution.
Would love to have them both in the garage though.
To me this looked like an April Fool's joke.
To have an S2000 on sale again would be outstanding, I'd love to see them on sale again and in production.
In terms of a design exercise, the flaws seem too prominent.
1: 8500rpm - would that engine pass emissions test? Even in the US?
2: Why keep 10 year old headlights with orange indicators on it? Updating these would add life the car and sales and just require looking in the parts bin and modifying the plastic to fit the slot.
3: Why keep 10 year old tail lights on it? Updating these would add life the car and sales and just require looking in the parts bin and modifying the plastic to fit the slot. of course these should be LEDs by now.
I reckon the next civic type-r should be the next s15/wrx. Expectation is for it to be the fastest ever front driver around the 'ring, 200kw+ and turbo.
I don't see why an 8500RPM engine wouldn't pass emissions..
there's no reason for it to be tuned rich from the factory when it doesn't have any kind of forced induction. The RPM's shouldn't make a difference really. There are other modern cars that rev that high also.
Please take a look at this recent comparo video of 86/BRZ/FRS vs RX8 vs S2000
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jImHTWfj8aM
Although comparisons are always subjective, its a unanimous result for one car.
Yeah, that's true. I know the publicly released rationale for killing the last CIVIC Type-r was its failure to pass the next generation European emissions regulations - somehow.
I guess I'm working off my own assumption that we wont be seeing 2.0-2.4l fours revving much past 7500 from Honda in the future. :(
Hi guys, I'm new to the forums and this is my first post. Anyway, I once considered buying a S2000, but the interior was too cramped for me (I'm over 6 feet). This is great news, but really disappointing at the same time as Honda won't be making a brand new, whole hearted roadster any time soon. I can't wait for the Civic Type R though, saw a YouTube clip and heard those 4 exhausts roaring round the 'Ring, pretty sweet noise! Anyone else here wish Honda would make a Honda Jazz Type S, just whack a supercharger on the regular engine, stiffen the springs, add some BA bodykit and make it harsh as H**L! Manual only of course, anyone else?
Cause the Italians with their cool sunglasses and sweaters slip $$$ to authorities :p LOL
Hahahah!
You all want a S2K successor? Too bad.
