Hmm ... looks like home job made with a speaker port (from Jaycar etc).
Cant really tell much from the picture .. it may feed a CAI (eg. AEM, Injen) in the fender well ... or perhaps brakes (if there is one on the other side too).
Mike
do u reckon this would work??
woulod it look diy?
It's a bit hard to tell how it is setup, but I could make three guesses (if it is in fact intake related):
Assumption 1: Port is not connected to an intake but infact feeds air into the fenderwell where a CAI (eg. AEM, Injen etc) is located.
- May add some small advantages in getting cool air into the fenderwell but there is probably sufficient air already flowing through there already (via the front bumper opening lower fenderwell cover etc).
- Port may actually be at a low pressure zone due to the aerodynamics of the car (and hence is completely useless)
Assumption 2:Port is directly connected to an airbox (eg. Comptech Icebox)
- Port looks quite small and may not provide sufficient air flow
- Port is also sharp cornered (rather than tapered/fluted) which impedes air flow
- Port may actually be at a low pressure zone due to the aerodynamics of the car - in which case it is possibly doing harm to air flow.
Assumption 3: Port is directly connected to an intake arm without a filter
- As with Assumption 2 +
- Engine is sucking up unfiltered air!
I dunno ... I suspect it doesnt really offer any significant gains.
I guess it looks reasonably cool though
Thats what I think anyway! Any other thoughts?
Mike
Thats what I was thinking too. You would want to test the air pressure at that location before you went cutting holes in the bumper!Quote:

Seems like a DIY job and they stuck J's Racing on it..
Any pics of the actual air duct ?

u can just cut out the original plastic and it will do the same thing that the j'sracing thing will do except might have a little more resistant.
if you want, u can just feed the tubing furthar out and cut the top of a funnel and attach it which will do the same thing for a fraction of the cost
cut the bottom off a coke bottle and use that y0!!!!!!!!!!!1 :D
egSi... the KING of DIY
personally i would never spend money that can be made just as well/better then buying something.
unfortunatly i got a sedan, so i cant just cut the fog light hole and whack it in there.
in there enough cool air behind the bar on a sedan to stick a pod (like where the fog light should be) if i didnt cut a whole, coz once u take out the resonator it leavs a huge void there.
oh don't give the yanks a hard time... it is a MUST HAVE item hehehe...
personally i agree with the DIY thing... but i doubt i could make it look as good... sorry - not even sure if i could cut the hole properly hahaha...
that is geoffs car and its just a hole port. running like some cai piping to a j's intake.
nothing special. instead of running pipe to front of the bar, its doin it to that hole.. hehe
