but ey, goin back to the question, n e thin is possible if u put in enough money! for external wastegates ull need to upgrade the size of the turbo...they only have em on big ones, eg garett t3/t4...

civic ek, yes it can be done, and easily wtihout repacing any turbo.
well if u put a external gate on a stock wrx turbo... what do u do with the internal setup??? i think u can only put a external on a big turbo coz they dont have internal setup.....

get a blockoffplate or weld up the flapper. the get a external flange welded onto the manifold and ur done.

I've got a VF22 (WRX STi Turbo) on my civic and it great but I want to go external wastegate as well. Theres to much fidling around changing the VF22, just go a bigger turbo and external wastegate thats the path I'm taking.
why do you want to go external wastegate?

yeh sorry.. but why do u want to go external? unless you want to run more boost there is no need.. the stock wrx turbo can handle up to 14psi safely with out leaks or creeps or whatever.. so a internal gate is fine.. plus using the stock turbo and running an external will only mean blocking off the port the old gate sits.. more work more money involved..
BUT....the external wasteage adds bling factor 65 to the engine bay =]
