Planning to buy king springs for my ek1
But heard that they will be bad in the stock shocks,
Is it actually unsafe ?
What shocks are cheap and reliable for king springs?
Thanks

I think it all comes down to how low you go.
If you go too low on stock shocks, you'll get to much play for the spring hence making it unsafe.
I think if you kings that are just low springs (not super lows or ultra lows) you will be fine.
any thing lower you need news shocks
what is you're budget?
I had ultra lows on stock shockers for couple of years, no problems
Sweet thanks!
just find a secondhand but still good coil over man.. just be patient in looking you'll find soon..
Suggest you get some TEIN S-techs, had them on my EK. They were made to work with the stock shocks. it has a progressive spring rate with 1.5" drop. It would be in your $500 budget range. Definitely better than king springs on stock shocks
Ive got some TEIN S TECH springs with Koni STR Shocks for sale if your interested. Used for approx 5k-10k km, 2nd owner. Decent drop and very good ride.
^ seen can also confirm the ride comfort and drop are both satisfactory.
In short, no aftermarket springs are good with stock shocks
new springs = new shocks thats the rule of thumb because shocks aren't made to handle lowered springs.
The maximum lifetime you can get with stock shocks and aftermarket springs (assuming the drop is < 2") is ~ 3 years depending on how rough you drive.
Heard king springs are fairly stiff though so stock shock liftime will be < ~2 years correct me if i'm wrong. Heard some people blew there stock shocks on king springs after a year.
If your after budget shocks look at either Koni SRT.T or Tokico Blues (or illuminas which has damper adjustment).
Hope this helps
Here is what you need:

Just take your entire strut out and install these with Tein S Tech springs.... Hassle free and you will be out on the streets alot quicker, as there is no need to remove your springs out of the strut and then reinsert new springs. Also should you need to return to stock hieght its vice versa and you are off...
Do you have a spring compressor tool? As you will be needing one if you don't to swap springs SAFELY!
My mate had king springs super lows with stock shocks on his ek. Looked okay on 14 inch wheels but had a few finger gaps so could go lower. Overall it runs well and still runs fine to this day. So i guess they're okay
