Was wondering how do I remove the 8mm spring pin from the shift rod in order to remove the shift rod from the engine? Do I just use something to push it out from the top?
Also I was wondering was it possible to remove the engine without disconnecting the suspension lower arm ball joints? Or is it required in order to remove the driveshaft? I ask because I don't have the Ball Joint Remover tool that the service manual says to use.
Use a flat headed 8mm punch and a large heavy mallet
Don't forget to remove the C clamp cover that surrounds it
Be prepared to get sore arms

use wd40 to lube it
for me its quicker and cleaner to remove driveshafts when removing engine. less likely cutting the driveshaft seals.

I use the joint of my breaker bar which fits just nicely and it usually pops it apart, however sometimes need to provide a bit of leverage/pressure or twist on the bar if it wedges in there and gets stuck

Oh and if you don't have a punch, I have used a screwdriver bit held with pliers and the flat end or butt against the bitch pin. Ruins the bit but they are a dime a dozen. You need a mallet or mini sledge for this too, ordinary hammer just doesn't work

Hey guys thanks for the advice. I did manage to get it off quite easily. I used a bolt from the power steering which fitted perfectly and also sprayed some wd40 on before hand. Came out after 4-5 hits with a hammer :)
As for the control arm, I found a video that suggests doing it like this:

Ended up having to remove the whole LCA / knuckle assembly and cutting the ball joint out, then pressing the taper section out on a 30 tonne press. When it let go, it did it with a huge bang - scared the crap out of everyone in the workshop.
