hey guys maybe u can help me in this...
ive got a set of RAYS lug nuts and the thing is...it doesnt fit my dc2r properly...cos the RAYS lug nuts sit only on a the joint...
here is a pic...
http://www.ozhonda.com/gallery/data/...nlug-thumb.jpg
as u can tell the tension is concentrated on a small part of the nut (the black thick line) where as its suppose to concentrate on the whole part of the nut...
is this normal??
my previous cheetach locknuts looked exactly the same.. just put mine on today.. with no dramas so far..
is it track safe but?
i dont see why it wouldnt be safe...
it was the exact length etc as my previous nuts... so yeah.. :)
It's not safe, most aftermarket wheels use tapered lugnuts (e.g. Rays) where as OEM wheels use Acorn type lug nuts.
Using tapered lugnuts on OEM wheels is not only unsafe but will stuff up your wheels over time.
im using... rays on aftermarket 18s... not OEMS..
supernatural: u using them on ur OEMS?
ya RAYS is the first one...
i like this thread!
so your bacially saying use stock nuts with stock rims = safe
rays/ apx/ random light weight nuts on after market rims eg. volks = safe
as in safe for street and track!?
yeah.. i think thats right...
need some confirmation!!?? :)
yeah i am using oem....but yeah...thx for the pic jimboy...the problem with the rays on oem wheels tat it doesnt sit perfectly and it sits like this

yeah.. RAYS = not for OEM use....
stick with ur factory lugs..
:)
yeah... :( i wanted red nuts... :(
oh wells.. looks like u need to get some new wheels for red nuts hehe
shaun .. just spray your stock nutsQuote:

yup...rice me up baby... :D
hey shaun... youb should ask felixR.... i think he's got oem wheels with red lugz....
yeah i did ask him... :)
can the RAYs lugs be broken if overtightened by hand to much??
HAHA, that's funny. I NEVER thought of painting my wheel nuts instead of buying the right colour ones.
if u can overtighten a lugnut by hand u must be bloody strong!
just remember a rule of thumb:
- if u ever have a breakdown.. would u want a friggin tightass nut which u couldn't undo with a cross bar??
if u wanna be certain, use a wrench/cross bar watever ur preference is.. tighten it up till u think it's right.. double check it with a torque wrench.. u'll be quite surprised that it's not as tight as u may think..
what torque setting is used for rays lugnuts?
refer to my post eric... :D
