Hey Guys
I need urgent help, i'm in the middle of trying to put a B16a out of an EG into my 96 Ek civic coupe (SOHC vtec)
i have the wring and ecu i know i need engine mounts, but wiring loom do i use cause the Eg B16a ECU dosen't fit my dash wiring, and alsomy SOHC wiring loom wont fit the b16a.....
what to do?
has anyone done this before
dude, i hope you know you cant fit an engine that is older than the chassis in you car. it will be illegal, unless its a race car.

if you don't mind me asking... why are you putting an illegal engine into your car?
not my car personally wouldn't do it for my car....i'm doing the conersion for mate and i have him told a billion times =...but he dosen't care so..neither do i.............
i just need help putting it in.............
You shouldn't do it for him.
Just in case he gets caught gets you drawn into it as to helping him with it.
he is a good mate and and dosen't no thtat much about cars.....i thought it would be a bolt in.....turns out i'm have prob with the wiring.....
anyway if someone could that would be great.........
The other [Danny] on this forum has done a similar DIY conversion.

you need ek VTI-R engine mounts.
can some one direct me to the part of the modifcation guidelines that says the engine has to be newer than the car? i think you guys have been reading too many american forums.

no you need to use the EG6 b16a OBDI computer. the wiring will have to be customised to fit the EK dash loom(can buy adaptors) and wiring in the engine bay will have to be moved around to fit the b16a engine.
your going to need a Auto sparky to do that.
AFAIK , it is impossible to register a car with an older engine (block) than the chassis itself....ive heard this from a ew police officers , and one guy at the RTA but i do not have any "legal documentation" - Ill take their word for it lol.Quote:

Yes - get the entire set of EK vtir engine mounts and this engine type should be a bolt in :thumbsup:

EG b16a uses a different ECU altogether than the EK b16a..
not to mention that the japspec engine has more "power" than the auspec..
i.e.
EG b16a (125kw) uses a p30 ECU
EK b16a (118kw) uses a p28??? ECU
i know they are different ecu...but the P30 dosn't run my dashQuote:
