Ya wouldn't believe it, but I have found some RE711 Bridgestones in 205/50/R15 at around $205 per tyre, fitted and balanced... PM me if anyone needs a set ;)
I also found an abundant supply of RE711 in 215/45/R16 as well... at.. wait for it... $200 per tyre!!! including fitting and balancing.

Yup, that is the size that DC2R owners use on their car. RE711 don't come in 195/55R15.

You guys are from ClubRSX so I know you know a lot. (I'm from there too). I just watned to clear a few things about the tyre numbers and wheel numbers. I'll take my tyres and wheels as example. 195/55/15 tyres and 15x6.5 wheels (I think).
195 is the tyre width. 15 is the rim diameter. 55 is the aspect ratio, but what is this exactly? I know it is a percentage of the tyre width, but what does it represent? Is this the thickness of the tread?
For the wheels, 15 is the diameter size, 6.5 is....? Is this the rim width? Please help me out here. Thanks guys.

Why not grab a ruler and have a look at the rubber on your wheels to verify.
55 is not in mm... it is a percentage of the tyre width. So for a tyre of size: 195/55R15, the sidewall height is 55% of the tread width.
On another point, I stand corrected. It appears that RE711 did come in 195/55R15, I saw the tyre on a Japanese web-site. They were never imported into Australia.
However the 205/50R15 will fit fine and will not throw out the speedo of the vehicle as the overall tyre diameter is virtually unchanged.

Yeah, I had a look at the tread pattern last night of the 711 and this guy in Japan has them in 195/55/15. Are these tyres for track only? Would I waste my money if I use them for street only?
They are marketed as a street tyre.

another thing is that the DC2R rim is 15x6 not 6.5 thats the diameter of the DC5R 16x6.5" wheel.

no they are not semi-slicks...doesn't even compare :D ...they are a street compound tyre...and for street they are great.Quote:

Well I can get S03 in my size for 205 bucks each! The RE711 will cost me 220 each, but these are the last in the country. I have to try them!!! The S03 will have their chance later :D
wow!!..S03's are cheap there!...hmmm...yeah since the S03's are massed produced and the RE711's are limited RARE!..i would try those and see for yourself..either way i suppose they are both VERY good tyres for the price.Quote:

Yeah i know what you mean! Some shops were saying that the GIII 'supercede' the GIII, they're 'virtually' the same tyre.
I lined up the tyres side by side and NO WAY they are similar. Even running your fingers over the rubber the composition and softness is different. Only the tread pattern looks 'sliiiightly' similar, the RE711 have really nice big fat chunks of tread running through the middle.
It was like Bridgestone said: "These are the closest street tyres you'll get to a F1 tyre"
I havent tried RE711 but I'd say both S03 and RE711 are the best choices. But even better I say get wider profile ie. 225 at least. You'll love the corners hehehe ;)
But let us know how the RE711 go on the DC5 205/55/16. I found that tyres perform differently on different cars...
But I have tried the Azenis on Danny's car (Black DC5R) I forget which model azenis though...the ones that try hard to look like semi slick tread :P
Anyway they were ok...I liked the stock RE030 better though....
I say S03 all the way! They are a heavy tyre though...

I was tyre shopping end of last year and was looking for a set of RE711's, and no matter how hard i tried, i couldn't find a complete set!!! I went everywhere... so how on earth did u find them 10 months later??? Are there any left for 15"? Even two would be sweet... :D
My bro's JDM DC2R had the RE711's, and i must say they are the stickiest tyres i've tried! They were excellent tyres, but i've yet to try the S03's. After my attempts to find them for my CTR, i had to give in for a set of GIII's (they were cheaper, and the fitters also kept saying "they're the newer, better models"... hmmm). I must say these aren't the best tyres... it was difficult "burning out" with the RE711's in the ITR, yet the GIII's spin heaps when launching in my car...
FYI: There's a nice online calculator here: http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi/ if you want to work out how changing your width/diameter/aspect ratio will affect the car - usually in terms of speedo being correct.

I spent a week looking for the RE711 and they're finally on the car :D yay!
I can't say how well they grip as they are brand spankers and would need need some wearing into.
Also, the shop put in the wrong pressures, I can really tell the difference. I'd say its out about 2 to 4 psi, i'm fixing it after I finish work today.
I had them fitted yesterday afternoon so I only had the chance to drive them to work this morning.
I've arranged a good price with the tyre guys for anyone I refer there.
Bridgestone S-03 in 205/55R16 are only $205 each!
Bridgestone RE711 in 205/50R15 are $204 each!
And during my searching, I have found a place that have (in stock!), Bridgestone RE711 in 215/45R17 for only $200!!!
PM me if you're looking for any of these tyres. If you'd like something else or a different size, PM me anyway as I have built a good rapport with the co-owner of the shop. He snatched my set of RE711 from Queensland.
I've even see the national warehouse stock-list for myself and there is ONE SET of RE711 in 205/55R16 left. I've got the 2nd last set, the last set will be very difficult to bring in.

I've managed to get a few hundred kays out of these tyres now and I rekon they're damn good. I believe the RE030 (OEM) tyres are still better in the wet, the RE711 I believe will shine in the dry performance.
There seems to be some more road noise and the turn in is extremely sharp. Alot more responsive than the RE030. I haven't had the chance to find the grip capabilities safely ;)
I will be hitting the track in a few months and will see how these babies really perform.
They are also a very sexy looking tyre.
BTW, I can't believe NO-ONE wants high-performance, low price tyres!? Heck, it doesn't even have to be the potenzas, I could get people G-Grids if they wanted for a good price. I guess people here are more interested in engine-power mods than real performance mods? A damn good set of tyres can shave of more time in a 400m dash than a fart-can exhaust!
I agree tyres are one of the most crucial attributes you can have.

No way are GIII equivalent to the RE711 and from the B'stone guys I've spoken to.... they rate the RE711 above the S03, in many aspects!! 8)
As for the track - I was very surprised by their performance late last year and the compared pretty well to RE540's.... but of course, not in the same league overall! :)
The other advantage, is that RE711's grip right through the life of the tread.... unlike the OEM RE010, that went 'off' about 1/2 way through the tread life!! :x
