you will not b able to register with NSW plates ( i think)
and CTR's are the most rarest things u can find...
so i say good luck with it
and nearly all of the CTR's in aus r rebuilds
Just get an integra!
:P
These are worth around 1 million Yen - $15000 or whatever. Not hard to find really, one comes up for sale or auction every week, although it might be the same ones coming up again.
To import one, you have do it illegally, and use any EK9 ADM plate, and have everything Engineered. There is already one here, and chatted to the owner at the Shell Service Station at Brighton last year. He did it this way, but says it was worth every cent. He imported it as a race car, which is legal, and bought an almost written off CXI, slapped on the ADM plates, and drives the CTR about once a fortnight....
I Personally wouldn't do it, as the sentencing is harsh, but this was a desperate man.
In Vic they came in as a "rebuild" which is/was a loophole in Vic law - but again, having a rebuild in NSW isn't easy.
i think you can do it as a 'rebuild' in perth also.
Im not so sure you can do rebuilds over here in Perth, otherwise id have one by now. Thats why im doing a VTiR to EK9 conversion.
Vic and Qld(?) that have had rebuilds in the past. I thought WA as well but I could be wrong.
my bros car was done as a rebuild in WA.
when and where ?Quote:

ahhh, all i know is it can be done.
mmm EK Type R sexy :D
you can allways move to Japan buy a CTR and bring it back with you :)
still isnt answering the question but merely sidestepping it ...
thats all i know, he bought it from an importer, and im pretty sure its a rebuild. i dont know how it ws done, all im saying is you must be able to do it.
what car was it ?
skyline 33gts-t
o well thats a totally different arguement. Infact there is no arguement.
Skyrice R33 GTST are imported nearly every day here. My girl has one and many mates do as well. You can freely import them anywhere and they're not rebuilds ! but the real car.
As the topic suggests, we are talking about importing genuine EK9 civics, not skylines.
it's hard to get a EK9
let alone the parts
i know a guy oin melbourne who imports all that sort of stuff, type r tegs/civics, and s2k's
But they are next to unregisterable in NSW as they are rebuilds and frowned on by the RTA. Which is where the original poster comes from - making your point invalid.
I've been down the rebuild and NSW path - it aint fun.
there are like 9 in aus? rebuild would be a good option i think, not sure if you can with 30k tho, try j-spec imports. they allow you to import a whole car (but dismanteled) to use for parts, and yes that includes everything :P
*edit* *deleted*
Rebuild may work in Vic and other states, but not in the fun-nazi state. The original poster is in NSW - EK4 with everything swapped into it and engineeers cert is the way to go - or wait and see if McChook can get SEVs complaincing.
Cheers
