hey people
i'm looking for tires for 16" wheels
the prob is..i need a load rating of 91V
most of the sizes i'm looking at are 225/50R16
since this size is pretty close to stock rolling diameter and has the higher load rating i need...
anyone have any suggestions?
currently i'm thinking of Bridgestone Grid 3, Yoko AVS Sports, AVS ES100, and Toyo RA-1
i can get the Grid 3s for $186 in 225/50R16...so i'm leading towards this..
why dont you look at p6000's?

Why so wide? I think these may be a bit too wide for the stock rim, steering response may suffer.

BS GIII's aren't bad... I corner hard on them and I have no problems...
MKI4EVA have you ever used P6000's ? then how do you know they are shit? I just got a new set now and love em, but its your choice just giving my opion and options for you. :roll: Reviews are good but hands on experiance is much better!

I bought these tires when upgraded my Type Rs wheel size to 16 x 7 from 15 x 6. I used to enjoy telepathic steering response from the stock Potenza RE010s and with these tires I feel like I am driving on JELLO. They suffer from terrible sidewall flex and extremely vague turn in. Overall steering response is HORRENDOUS. I can rate them highly for low noise, comfort and overall grip. But if you value razor sharp in and responsiveness, DO NOT BUY these tires, i recommend sticking with potenza series tires or PZeros. AamirCWITR @ Honda-tech.com."

I recommend u guys to try the Hankook's K104, it is a Y rated tyre with the super silica compound and designed for ultra high performance.
I had them put on my vtir after taking off the p6000s, it was way better in handling and performance, specially on fast corners it just grips so well and also in the wet as well.
Also they provide a Road Hazard Warranty Within 25% worn of original tread depth & Within 1 year from the purchased date, so if u ever got a puncher with in that 25% worn or under 1 year u can get a replacement tyre.

youch :D. i had a set of p6000's on my old falcon. they were pretty shocking in terms of grip and feel. great for noise levels though, just that i don't particularly care about noise levels in my cars- that is something i can worry about when i'm 50.
i would not touch them again, p6000 are almost the worst tyres i've ever bought (worst being pirelli p600's, but we won't go into that).
there is some hands on experience for yas.
What's wrong with GridIII's?? They grip very decently in my opinion....
I agree. My GIIIs hold up quite well. But i haven't had experience with other "performance" rubber.
I think the GIII is a good street tyre....grips well, and on the rain as well. I have no complains on it.....
But i heard its no good for tracks.

they were alright...but not as grippy..
How much were they Tofu and what profile?
Pirelli P6000 isn't very good.
They are pretty noisy too, although they weren't as bad as the crappy P5000 Dragos I had before. They were the worst tyres I've ever bought.
I changed over to Dunlop SP3000A and they are far better tyres than P6000. I noticed that my car handles so much better and it's more quiet than P6000.
what kind of profile tyres did u have?
do u realise that the lower profile tyres u have, the more moisy its going to be? the only good thing about low profile tyres is less sidewall flex when cornering.
But if there is less tyrewall flex that would equate to a stiffer tyre=less noise.Quote:

I probably did only about 10,000km at most and it's already wearing out pretty bad. I don't even drive fast either. I usually stick to the speed limit give or take 10km/h and I never take corners fast.
All I want to say is that Pirelli P5000 and P6000 sucks and I would never buy a Pirelli tyre again. I'm very happy with Dunlop SP3000A though
i am also looking at tyres for my car too...i have a DC2R and has been lowered to the tyres on the stock 15 inch rims...
does anyone know if i can fit 225/50/15 all round?? would that scrub?
or 215/50/15??

From personal experience 45's GIII feel nicer on the road than 50's RE010. The softer sidewall sounds about right. :nod:
I've got the Bridgestone GIII fitted onto my stock rims and they are pretty grippy on the streets I reckon. But for wreckless driving, they are only ok :P However, side walls are pretty soft as someone has mentioned and a tad noisy.
But I gotta love the rim guards!
Potenza GIII's are good for "normal" sports cars i reckon. If you got a high performance sports car (ITR/S2000), look else where.
I got Bridgestone Potenza GIII as well. Has anyone noticed it dosen't say the Tyre Load Rating on the sides?
Anyway, I recommend Michelin Pilot Sport Cup :D
i have pirelli p6000's and they r realy good, havnt had much to compare with but they grip realy well on dry and wet roads
I just got the GoodYear F1 GS-D3s 195/55/15 in my DC2R
very good handling and not that much tyre noise
