in not sure wat im suppose to be getting according to website its full tank 500km ... but my full tank is about around 35lt ?? is dat right and im getting around 300 to 400 in city driving ... and i drive a vtis and i never use CVT just normal auto ... i think maybe my engine has a problem or just my driving style cause i used to drive a integra and it eats petrol like hell so yeah hehe ... please let me know wat u guys are getting. oh and my car is stock to da box ...
This has been talked alot, full tank is 42 lt, u wont believe what oeple will write of what they achieve in one full tanks of petrol hahaha.

i cant seem to achieve the remarkable fuel economy figures some do. if i get under 7.0L it is because i am really tryin to be conservative! i too have a CVT Vtis. i think you can get about 80klms out of the fuel light? is that correct???

i get close to 600km's with my jazz
used to cost me max $35 for a full tank..now with the petrol prices so high, it costs me $40 for a full tank
If you go and read your manual it tells you approx. how much fuel is left in the tank at the time the "low fuel" light comes on....
This might surprise a lot of people, but the user manual actually contains a lot of information about the car!
Please don't turn this in to another thread about fuel consumption figures...this has been done to death, so do a search if you want to know what others are gettting.
Get better than 8ltr/100km (7.7-7.9) around the city and 5ltr/100km on the open road (Hume Hwy). The CVT gives better economy than the manual. Fuel economy improves as you clock more kms. Mines got better since I've clocked over 10,000kms.
They have stopped selling the Jazz with self shifter in Japan.
Clutches and stick shifts are history. Long gone from F1 & WRC. New cars like the Golf GTi are quicker and give better fuel economy in clutchless auto guise and likewise the latest BMWs with SMG. No human including Schumacher can shift faster than the latest SMG software in the M5. When these programs then add launch control, ESP, traction control, brake assist and all the other goodies from Bosch that old stick shift is looking very last century.
I love the slip of the CVT. Its feels like the wet clutch on a bike.

I can do 600kms+ on my Jazz VTi-S... Tried it before... Went the light comes on for empty you can go another 100kms easy... I use BP Ultimate but I never am able to hit 600+ again reason being I always fill up Monday arvo for cheap petrol ehehe so yeah tanks not empty but I fill up to save a few dollars
How do you manage 5litres/100kms on the freeway? if I drive faster than 100km/hr , i get higher fuel consumption than city driving!
If i do consistent 110km/hr I get 8l/100km! but in the City, I get betwwn 7.0 - 8.0l/100km depending on traffic congestion!

Try different brand of fuel and use premium unleaded. Comparing Shell Optimax and BP Ultimate, my Vti auto runs better on Ultimate with full tank always exceed 550km.
A trick that I learned from vtec.net is to use medium throttle to accelerate till your desired speed and then slowly lift your right foot to light throttle (almost like not stepping :D ). The speed will maintain and the rpm will be about 1500 to 2000 rpm depending on your speed.
By using the above method, my trip computer always read between 5.5 to 6.5. This is all done in suburbs driving + highway where the maximum speed I can go is 70km/h. However, when I starts travelling in higher speed e.g 100km/h in freeway, the consumption is higher.

It all really depends how u drive it...my average is around 7.6 and this after mods to the car, like exhaust and air filter...and mine is manual who consumes more fuel then auto... so yea... it depends how u drive it during ur tank of fuel...
if i am always pumping my car.. it usually goes up to 8.0+
Hmm for comparison, been driving my brother Getz abit lately and I get around 550-600kms on a supposedly 35L tank.
I drive a 1.5 manual, almost all country highway driving. Fuel consumption on BP premium unleaded is a reliable 5.6l/100km.
Rant: What was Honda thinking when they geared the manual so short compared to the automatic? My wife's 1.3 automatic is much more pleasant to drive on highway trips, the engine running much slower and quieter.

When I coolected my Fit back then in Nov 03, my 1st tank lasted me for abt 1200km! Went for my 1st 1000km servicing, with 1/4 tank of petrol left! That really "Wow-ed!!" me.. However, as time went on, my FC slowly dropped.. Dropped to 800+, 700+, then 600+ km per tank (approx. 34 litres)..
Now, I'm averaging abt 480km to 550km per tank of petrol.. :)
BTW, I'm using either Caltex or Mobil fuel. :)

Wife has been averaging 6.3L/100kms in the VTi, she only uses the normal CVT mode in D. And very light on the throttle. I have to Vtec the thing once a week just to make sure it gets a workout.
1200 km from a tank is horse shit. you obviously had a problem with your trip meter, thats 80 miles per gallon....... um... NO i dont think so.
my 1.3 jazz sitting on 90-98kmh on a 800 km trip, with no passing, in 5th gear ( which should be optimum economy for a jazz ) i get 680 from a tank ( 5.7l per 100 km ). driving easy around town, it sits on 6.5 to 6.6 L per 100km
and for the hybrid prius..... its only just better on fuel than a jazz :)

Why I know? I've driven for a long time at a constant 100km down to gold coast. No air con, and the road to gold coast is kind of down hill.
Ive driven down the coast 6 times in 1 day. Pretty much the entire tank was just highway driving. So I think that would be the best fuel consumption we can get. Anyway lower means that its just specifically for that condition (eg cruising in neutral on the way home after resetting meter and filling up -> would produce like 4.8L results)
But if you actually 'drive' the car, 5.7L sounds about right.
My car is also manual L15A - which I believe to save more fuel than a CVT auto.
The CVT is conceptually the ideal transmission that can allow optimum utilization of the nonlinear power/torque/emissions/fuel-consumption vs rpm characteristics of the typical powerplant.
The 5 speed manual is geared to rev higher in 5th than the CVT hence using more fuel on the open road.
Around town your more inclined to rev higher than the CVT using more fuel. Short shifting a manual car is not like a bike. Cars don't rev out to 13k+.
They don't sell the manual anymore in Japan.
CVT is one of the best parts of the Jazz. Without it its not the whole hitech package. If you going to run a dinosaur gear box why not get a carby and some front drums. Might as well get some nice whitewall canvas cheesecutters and leaf springs, remove those silly airbags, disconnect the abs and get rid of the seat belts too.
Interestingly the 1.5 vtec only uses 7% more fuel than the 1.3 dsi but it would obviously depend on how its driven.
umm i never use CVT i just use D and rite now im half full and im sitting on 170km from since full tank so i think something wrong wtih da engine :P

My fuel comsumption with a 1.4 LS GD1 is between 8-9 Liters in the city and 9 -10,2 Liters on the freeway!
Honda checked the engine and everything is alright. Maybe it's because of the 17 inch wheels and the bodykit.
If the diameter of your wheels is different from factory then your speedo and odometer will be out. This will in turn result in inaccurate calculations by the trip computer resulting in inaccurate consumption figures.
Maintaining the wheel diameter is very important hence why Jazzers with factory 13", 14" and 15" wheels are all the same diameter because of different factory tyres with corresponding aspect ratios.

oh ic ic i dont think there is something wrong with my driving style .. i hardly go over 3.5k rev hehe but yeah i think i'll ask them next service my wheels are stock from da factory ... its got a factory body kit but dats about it :P what normally cause da engine to eat up petrol like my one does??

Yes.. not very far from there to Vic Market.. However, the reading shouldn't be that bad... The most you will get is probably 8.xL/100km that sort of distance constantly... Not 12.xL/100km.Quote:

Mate, the CAR doesn't like short trips. Until the engine is warmed up, the mixture runs rich, and the gear selection (auto) runs about 1000rpm higher than normal.Quote:

guys, i just got our jazz (manual) last wednesday 06/07/05 and when i got it out off the dealer with a full tank.. its already monday 11/07/05 and i already ran almost 400kms and only used half a tank. whooohoooo.... love the jazz! :)
