my civic vti
when i got my car i realise there were two types of vti.
my car is a 96 honda civic sedan vti.
Because in my car's manual it shows there is
[gli,cxi, vti mt]
[vti cvt]
[vti-r]
i'm assuming vti mt is manual transmission but my vti is in the same code category as the gli. it says there is vtec in the vti mt but i'm wondering whats the difference with the vti cvt
if anyone even knows what i'm on about.
can you clear things up.
and also i draged my freinds 00 civic sedan gli. i think it was 00
he got me on launch but we were even all the way.
so i figured my vtech is weak and its just good fuel economy for wen your gunning it around. thats just my theory.
-
SOHC vtec is more for fuel economy than performance mate.
-
thats only on EK's right ???
-
well mines an ek1.... so yeah
-
dunno about ur vtec but mine doesnt really save much fuel.but then again i got an eg not an ek.
-
cvt is the atuo greabox for the ek1 vti sedan, cvt stands for continuosly variable transmition.
engine is a sohc vtec (d16y5). i think it may have just over 90kw compaired to 88kw for the non vtec, but i may be wrong.
-
Yeah as chameleon said the CVT is a variation on the auto gearbox. Your engine would be the d16y5 sohc vtec....so you may hear a change in tone but there really isnt much more power up there compared to dohc.
-
hehe koool you guys know your shit
that cleared things up
-
d16 vtec drinkz petrol lyk .. heaps..
-
heaps compared to wot ?
How much is heaps?
explain more clearly, cos i dont fuc|<ing understand you.
Well i dont understand any of your posts cos theyre full of sh!T!
-
sorry didnt read other post. cbf. :p
is ur civic a hatch?... is it a VTi...? if so, wouldnt it be a EK3?
-
umm u can get vti's without vtec. what ur engine code? got a pic? most probably u and ur mate have the same engine, d16y4. a d16y8 has vtec.
-

since on the same topic,
i have a civic coupe vti with d16y8 on it...
