Dual-stage intake manifold - B18C
I know you cant get the B16A or any type R intake manifolds to fit onto the B18C, but what is my most ecconomical way to ditch the dual-stage manifold as My B18C is running on B16A ECU so it wont activate the 2nd stage of the intake...
help !!

vtechnique so ur in d process of engine swap? b18c vtec?
remove the runner and tune to compensate for the difference. otherwise, use an ecu that can control the butterfly.

less money and still keep runner

well, it depends on which power goal you are aiming at.
the butterfly or dual stage is good for low-mid range but is good at high as well. it has the best of both world. howver compared to itr manifold, it is not as good.
the itr manifold, it has a larger plenum with short and fatter runner and designed for high end gain with a bit of penalty at low and mid.
I think it is best to be honest to save some money and buy a b18c ecu. i dont they are that expensive compared to a type r or some rare ecu.
Wreckers or ebay should have plenty of this.

anyhow if you keen on want to know to how to calculate your ideal intake manifold that matches your goal, this is it.....

David Vizard's Rule for IM Runner Length
The general rule is that you should begin with a runner length of 17.8 cm for a 10,000 rpm peak torque location, from the intake opening to the plenum chamber. You add 4.3 cm to the runner length for every 1000 rpm that you want the peak torque to occur before the 10,000 rpm.
So, for instance, if peak torque should occur at 4,000 rpm the total runner length should be 17.8 cm + (6 x 4.3 cm) = 43.6 cm.
Vizard also suggests that you can calculate the ideal runner diameter in inches by:
SQRT [ (target rpm for peak torque x Displacement x VE)/ 3330 ]
SQRT = square root
VE = Volumetric Efficiency in %
Displacement in Liters
So if we want peak torque at 5800 rpm at 95% VE in a teg,
SQRT [ (5800x 1.8 x 95)/3330]
= 17.26 in. is the ideal runner diameter. <end quote>

I will be doing a fair bit of auto-x so I guess the dual stage item may be good for low and mid range torque...
So I now need B18C ECU...
Bede i did tell you you will need a B18C ECU ! Besides i thought u knew that too.
Anyone could have told you the B16A one wont work properly with B18C. Thats why i held up with that B18C civic with B16 ecu.

skunk2 manifold is not that expensive at the moment because of our dollar. shipping is negligeble as well...chipped p28 ecu is your answer other wise just follow thangy's advice and keep the b18c ecu and get tuned with the new manifold.
actually,
shipping is the killer to my opinion. and the manifold is heavy. i used ems though for all expensive stuffs. or maybe there is a better way im not sure.

in any case i would go skunk2. its a bolt on considered to the ITR manifold and at the moment you can ship it from the usa for about 400 exc. shipping
...but its not a straight bolt on as some people think...you'll need to get the ITR throttle cable, pullies and other stuff to make it fit properly
i'll be ordrering mine and keeping it until most of my bolt ons are done

I have a limited budget for my swap and are not going max power just yet, just want to get the near-stock B18C in there first.
180HP+ against 125HP.. I think this will be a worthwhile upgrade for now..
I want to get used to the new-found power and weight forst before I look further into setting up the car.. BALANCE is the word !!
