i have jap spec crx it has the zc twin cam mill in it is the motor the same as the oz spec early integras??
i think so - can anyone confirm?
why do you want to know???
Yes, also same as Rover 416i (integra 4 door) and Si Civics circa 83-93
cause i have spun a bearing in my car now and need to replace the motor my mate has a early integra at his wreckers with an zc twin cam so i just want to make sure that this is the right engine and will fit straight it
yeah - should bolt in :)
better off getting from a same car...
it's just like the AU b16a and the JDM b16a's parts r different...
cuz higher compression and so on..
i suggest u get the parts from the same car..
is there a vtec motor that will fit straight in??
B16a should, the mounts are OEM, shouldn't be hard to buyQuote:

no idea, do a wrecker ring around. I think from memory the EF civic SiR mounts are exactly the same. I think the EG SiR and CRX mounts are slightly different, but would probably do the job with a little coersion.
You can't just drop in a b16 into that car. You have to think about wiring harness and ECU etc.
So unless you are prepared to do that, then just stick with the ZC you have found.
Engine will fit, wiring will not....Quote:

you have some very interesing ideas McChook...Quote:

check near gearbox/exhaust manifold for engine code
sorry, i think i am being unfair - McChook, maybe you are not being specific enough?Quote:

If it is a second generation CRX, then the mounts are not custom, they are OEM, since they had the B16a's in them in Japan, So I don't see how they would need to be customQuote:

your mate put a B16A into a 1st gen Integra?
using stock mounts?
bring on the proof!!! would love to see it!!!

must read every word of post before replying...
and I said second gen anyways, but no prob, just be careful before you try and slam people. I will always think I am wrong if you do, then get confused
hey i am SELLING a b16a that will bolt in mate!
plus a wiring loom and ecu and everything you will need for the conversion - i can even fit it for you!!!
yeah sorry, wont happen again.Quote:

Hmm, I was pretty sure we used the standard mounts. I'll double check that, I'll make a phone call

I've done the measurements sitting my EF9 next to an ED6 (Aussie spec 4th gen) and second gen CRX. The EF8 and 9s are totally different beasts. Mounting points are forward of the ED6 and rex. The only possibility is cutting and shutting the mount points, but crossmembers etc will not swap across and the OEM B16A mounts wont work.
How do I know about the mounts? I had to change mine by sourcing them from Japan as nothing Honda Au had matched, not even the 3rd gen CRX or 5th gen Civic :(
Thanks for the clarification on that.
I had a chat to my mate who did it this evening, and yeah, he had to buy the custom mounts. He already had them before the conversion, ready to go, thats why I didn;t know about them. Sorry to all who believed me, stuffed that one up, and I thought I was right...
