[Euro] How much was your 20,000 km service?

Finally I have the time to take my car in for it's 20,000km service. While it's there they gave me a dumb founded look when i told them to look at my 'creaky and loud' clutch - with questions following such as.. where is the noise coming from.. .... ....

which part of 'creaky' and 'loud' 'clutch' did you not understand?

i responded with, the clutch? and look at the master cylinder clutch (which i think went over their head) because i'm still annoyed about my clutch being stuffed up earlier (putting it the most nicest civilised way possible).

$377 for a damn service.. and $99 extra that i wanted for a wheel alignment and balancing..

$377 sounds like a bit to me.. so i'm wondering what everyone else has been charged?

plus they better fix this damn clutch related issue.. it's starting to really wear down on me.

Shit man! That's bloody ex! I just booked my car in for it's 12 month 20,000km service. It's $247! Includes wheel rotation and balancing (no alignment). I'll be bringing my own oil, so it'll be slightly cheaper by 30-40 bux. Come to my dealer! They lubed my clutch and when the noise came back, they changed the cylinder.

You got totally ripped off. It cost me around $230 excluding engine oil. Including engine oil, it would have been around $260 mark. I complained to the dealer because I thought that was excessive compared to $117 for the 10,000km service.

Don't be too happy with the lubrication as well. Mine came back after a few thousand km. On a happier note, I got my clutch master cylinder replaced today. The gear shift is so much smoother and easier compared to before. It's like driving a totally different car.

I wasn't in the mood to have a shit fight about anything.. i'll be taking my business elsewhere that's for sure - even if i have to travel further (good excuse to take a day off work :))

The lubrication makes the car feel different - i'm so used to the resistance and the creaking.. but when you put the clutch right down you can feel it stick as it releases. I'll give it a few days/weeks.

It always pays to call around for service should always call atleast 3 or 4 places local to you i found prices varied as much as 80-100 dollars

My 10,000km service was $247 as well. Both 10,000 and 20,000km involves the same procedure. It is the 40,000km service that is more expensive because of valvetrain clearance checks.

absolutely hopeless.

Just got my car back from the 20,000km service. Cost me $198 with my own oil. The only downside I can see is that they use clip on weights to balance the 16" wheels. So there is scratching where it is put on and taken off.

yup i agree that its a bit rip off by the dealer... 20,000km is considered as minor service... the only thing they change is the engine oil....
the 40,000km will be actually more than double than what you paid for the 20.000km :S:S but before you make the appointment,, just call all dealers within your area/range and you will be amazed the differences in $$ among dealers.
out family's MDX had her 40.000km major service about 4 months ago... prior the service i rang up two dealers for quote... one dealer wanted 750+ ( it could be more coz i also demanded ATF and rear diff. oil flush and change) where the other one quoted me 450!!! i won't quote the names of the dealers as it might be no appropriate to do so...

wooooo.......my car is nearing 15,000kms
its sitting at 14555kms atm.......im still deciding whether I should go to HANNYS at 15,000kms (ive never been there but apparently all HONDA modifiers go there to get their car tuned and serviced) or if i should just go to my normal honda dealer at 20,000kms

The person who runs CRS used to be a Honda service manager (does that mean he is good or bad? Service managers are bad to deal with when it comes to warranty work :) )

Sorry to kick up an old thread but some of you guys are getting ripped off hardcore.

My 20K service yesterday was $227.50 including FEO oil and tyre rotation. I also got free loan car for the day but that's included in my contact (Huge selling point for me as cant be without a car for more than 20mins.)

my first one was only around 140 though so its on the right track.

car dealerships are ***in dodgy...i'm not even gonna service my car at the dealership....

i'll take the risk and just service it with my mechanic...i doubt anything big would go wrong in the first 3 years...at least i hope not

one of the fun things u can do is get a permanent marker and mark little dots on your air filter, oil filter, etc...then when u get the car back, check them for the dots...

u'd prolly find that those dots are still there and those mofos havent changed anything but the oil...and even i'm doubtful of the oil change

I know they at least change my oil because I check when I get home that's it's clean again.

quoted $265, a little more than usual but nothing like $377!!

last time i brought it in they fixed my creaking issue with the notorious parcel tray and also replaced a split boot which was spitting oil everywhere so i was happy with that and am willing to pay a for them to do it again.

My 20000k service was $218
I have just been quoted $580 for my 80000k service. I nearly fell over when told that.
Thats not even a spark plug change, its just fuel & air filter. :thumbdwn:

I notice on service intervals they recommend doing tyre rotation. Is there any interaction between this and a wheel alingment? eg. if you have had a wheel alignemnt say at 20000km and then have tyres rotated at 30000km will this change the alignment?

Shop around and let us know whether other dealers are similar in price.

By the way if you are sticking with the OEM air filter you can use the one from the Acura TSX that costs $22AUD and change it yourself (Acura of Escondido on ebay). I think it costs $45 in Australia so if you order 2 or 3 you are ahead even with shipping costs. Not a lot of saving but there are other goodies you may wish to buy at the same time..

Nope, alignment shouldn't be affected by a tyre rotation.

Thats right the book does show valve clearance check.

I just did the 10k service, including honda oil and a new oil filter for $196. Getting the cd player replaced next week under warranty. :thumbsup:

i'm gonna do the servicing myself, and just bugger the 3yr/100,000km warranty!

Up to you. I'd go FEO. Magnatec is nice if you are not the kind of person to let the engine idle for 30 seconds when you first start the car in the morning. But Magnatec 10w-40 starts to break down in about 7000km. If it is the Magnatec 10w-30 semi-synthetic, then that is much better and I'd be tempted to give it a go.

do you guys have to take your accords in for checks at 10000km intervals?

my service intervals are at 15000km. my first check is tomorrow and I´m expecting it to cost me an arm and a leg:( but I live in Iceland so it´s not something to go by;)

My 20 000 was about $220 with a free wash and wheel rotation. I was happy with that.

My 20000 was less than $260. That includes bringing my own oil, $5 oil disposal charge, 2 rubber inserts for the wipers, and fixing the sunroof rattle. Thanks to white brown cat, Motul 8100 X-cess is really good!!

I'm agree!!! I felt the difference as soon as I drove off the service centre. The acceleration and revving is so much smoother. Also, the engine seems to warm up much faster as well.

I managed to get Motul 8100 X-cess for about $47 (after 20% discount) and I paid $200 for the service without oil. Originally, I was quoted $235 with FEO, thus I will definately pay the $12 difference. I will also put Motul 8100 X-cess into my Jazz next week and will report back how the oil perform in Jazz.

Had my 20000km service this morning. Expected to pay over $200 but it only cost $166, plus they repaired a nail/puncture in my right rear tyre as well. Scored!

I disagree as it is false economy. Save yourself a few hundred and risk losing the entire warranty on a 35k+ car? Every car can have out of the ordinary issues - it doesn't have to be a common fault for your transmission or a major engine issue to occur and you could be left thousands out of pocket. And it has happened on this model.

Licensed mechanics are not that expensive - you don't need to go to the dealer if you don't want to. A licensed mechanic will also pick up potential issues a back yard wannabe will never notice. I also pity the fool who tries to sell a second hand Euro with no stamps whatsoever in that service book (like i said - it doesn't have to be a dealer stamp). My 2 and a 1/4 cents...

tats tru but wit all bakyarders sum cant b trusted, esp wit the mechs tat do a variety of diff car brands usually skimp out on sum parts and re-use the shit out of the sump washer.

so far only the jazz seems to b havin some troubles wit the trans in autos so keep it in warranty those of u hu hav em.

I agree.You don't have to go to a dealer,just a reputable mechanic.As yfin says,it's not worth the risk.Also who would buy a car without any service stamps in the books?I wouldn't.

That's true but with all backyarders some can't be trusted, especially with the mechanics that do a variety of different car brands usually skimp out on some parts and re-use the shit out of the sump washer.

i can't speak for all dealers but at our dealer we do alot more than just change the oil. for the average auto euro the 20k service comes to about $335 with us but we:
-change oil AND FILTER
-full wash and vac incl steam clean of engine
-transmission service (change of fluid) (we do every 20,000km)
- tyre rotation
- top up all fluids and all the usual service stuff

yes carl shcembri used to be a honda dealer service manager, but he has been sacked from every dealer he has worked out. i've seen seen service invoices and quote from CRS that an ozhonda memeber with an s2000 had. not only was he being ripped off price wise, he wasn't getting nearly as much done as a dealer would do :thumbdwn:

imo the guy talks alot of shit so be careful
i also advice against recomending people unless you have had experience with them :thumbdwn:

yes, it's usually done every 40,000km. the only time it wouldn't normally be done is if the car is in for the equivalent of the 40k service and they have only done like 21k

yes ALL australian honda service schedules are every 6 months or 10,000kms (whichever comes first)... with an optional oil change in between at 5,000km

anyway all the melb peeps should be servicing with us at travis honda anyway :D

edit: this is a long ass post, u better rep me bitches :p

when servicing ur honda...

whateva part they say that they'll replace in the logbook, get a permanent marker and put a little dot or line on that part...and when u get home, check to see if that part is replaced or not...

if you want to avoid dodgey mechanics reusing ur old parts...

20k service at Tynans Kirrawee $137 and that includes wash and vacuum. Very happy.:thumbsup:

That's not bad. $135 was for my 10000km service (nice job) and that's WITHOUT the oil as I paid $68 for my own Motul 8100 on top.

Done at one of my local Honda Service centres (considered the best Honda dealer to service at in Perth).

Anyone who gets a service(10-20-40,000km.or whatever)should post it here and state price and dealer name(no negative comments only positive) so the rest of us can compare prices and quality of workmanship.just an idea!!!

i take mine to hannys performance, 40000ks spend like 300 and still change the oil on my auto gearbox, all they do is hondas you should try them

What's this oil system flush and fuel treatment?I'll bet it's Wynns or something like it.HA do not recommend ANY additives(it says so in the manual).Next service tell them where they can stick their additives,all they are is revenue raising for the service dept.Workshop supplies are fluids they may use to top up PS,brake fluid,radiator etc.(they all charge this).My service dept.charges me $12.00 for this!!!

EuroDude, you got ripped off. Change to a different dealer for servicing. PM me for my dealer details ($250 for 20,000km service)

1. Refuse to pay for any additives as they are not part of the routine service and are a way for the service department to make easy money. Furthermore, argue that these are not endorsed by Honda Australia and that you will hold them responsible for any potential damage.
2. Oil flushes are DEFINITELY not recommended.

The thing is, I get two years extra warranty if I stick with my dealer.

U think an extra $70 every 6 months for 3 years (total $420) is enough to justify the extra 2 years?
Or buy Honda's extra 3 years wty for something like $700 and ditch this dealer?
