Some discussion on Young and Cool here. Not too cheap I guess.

young and a tool
you better off going with JustCars
young and cool wont even insure me. I'm with just cars (not by choice either though) but they are pretty good in terms of service, but they arent cheap either
well, they quoted me $880
Swann (my current - and they are dodgy!)
JC - $1300
AAMI - $1200
NRMA - $1900
GIO - $2200
So thats why i ask!
but i'm a bit iffy, i dunno why!
but they specify that my car must go in the garage, it must adhere to the immobiliser that they say (even though mine comes with one standard!)
Always read the disclosed statements before paying for insurance, sometime you get what you pay for. I found that some insurance companies don't suit my needs, even though it might be a little cheaper.
a friend of mine got a really good quote with young and tool, full comp for his s2k cost him about $1300 and he's 22
try unique car insurance... i got a quote for full comp, covering my wheels, stez, exhaust, extractors for $994
Cool thabks for all the help and advice!
Just wanted to update and add.
Ended up going with AAMI as they did offer pay by the month, were very helpful in the quote and my incessant questions.
Young and Cool wanted me to get another immobliser, which when quoted was like 350bucks. (so the saving going with them wasn't)
NRMA's was bloody high
Just car was actually more expensive than AAMI's... go fig!
Shannon wouldn't insure me cause i don't do club things and /or race my car...
So, there
Anybody needs insurance, I can reccomend AAMI for the first part of the insurance saga... I sincerely hope I never have to experience the otherside (i.e. making a claim!)
Cheers All for the input!
Darko
go with just car
I'm with shannons.. if you can be damn convincing then shannons will insure preludes
you don't have to be convincing to insure with shannons, i know several people who insure their preludes with them
Is the car under your parent's name or yours?
can anyone confirm this:
If i have a car under my name...can the insurance go under my dads name as the main driver..and my name go under (temporary) driver?
just cars would not for me....
my mum rang and said my husband bought a honda prelude and will be the main driver, ok how many people will be driving it, 3, what are their ages, 56 54 and 20....ok whats the name of the 20yo, its martin, ok hell be the first driver. **** almost worked! lol

i worked for AAMI for 5 years, you DONT want to get caught up in the claims side, trust me
my only saving grace was that i worked for them and knew the repairers
nrma have a very bad reputation now for getting teh car repaired
NRMA have a bad name because they were getting assessments done using pictures placed on an internet site... demand from customers meant that about a month back they pulled back and you can now take your car to your repairer the way it used to be, with the option of them doing it the net way if you want, "for your convenience)... notice the adds lately about there claims handling???
AAMI takes your car and get there "recommended" repairers to quote on the car and essentially give it to whoever quotes cheaper, even if its $20 difference (believe it!!) and fly under the banner that they have a lifetime guarantee on repairs, but how many times are you going to go back before you start to think whether its worth my time and give up? they bank on this... BUT they dont market this, and not many people know, but you can get a quote from your repairer and one "recommended" repairer and bring the ca in for a Driveway Assessment, but the decision on who the car goes too is still up to the assessor, and is ALWAYS dictated by price... its business afterall. Go to the AAMI repairer first, then get that repairers quote and go to your repairer and ask him to beat it and your repairer will get the job. simple.
GIO lets you go to whoever you want, and guarantees the repair from the beiginning, just take it straight to your guy... but like i said above, you get what you pay for.
GIO has just released its own high risk insurance arm for modified vehicles and high risk drivers, so give them a go
Just car, ive had insurance with, they are underwritten by AAMI, nt very experienced in the claims process
damn i hate organising insurance, just organised it last week and damn was it a bitch. for my 96 prelude i got quoted $1732 as a rating 5 from just car under my name and the agreed value was whatever i payed for the car, premium didnt change so i bullshit i payed 14g for the car and they agreed to it, by the way im 19.
tried just car under parents name they said if your son drives the car we will cancel your insurance and not cover you if he or you (my parents) make a claim.
i tried aami under my name and parents they wouldnt give me any agreeed value just a market value of about $8900 which is less than what i payed for the car so i tried to stay clear from them.
GIO under my name was going to cost me a premium of about $8700 a year and the only payout would be the market value of $8400 i was like what the ***, i pay more each year than what they would of payed out, the guy on the phone was like sell the car and buy a commodore ..... wtf
young and cool quoted me about 4500 a year which is still quite a bit expensive
made a few other quotes and the best i found was anz car insurance, they are underwritten by CGU insurance, im paying about 1300 a year, cars insured for 14g, insurance under my parents name though however they said its no issue if im driving the car every now and then. if something happens then bascilly to make a claim excess will be higher.
with bullshitting about how much you bought the car for, if they are investigating a total loss sometimes, depending on the circumstances they will investigate the purchase amount on the transfer papers, which will also be recorded at the RTA for stamp duty purchasesQuote:
