really????Quote:

Used to get about 450kms with about 10 - 15 L left in tank with Optimax.
Currently use BP ultimate. Get between 400 - 450 with about 10 L left.
500-550 Kms on one tank (DC2R)
It's probably best if everyone posts the petrol they are using as well.
Oh mine is a DC2 (vtir)
How bigs the tank?
I get around 7-8/100ks in the civic (around 450ks with 8L left in the tank). Mobile 8000
i'm getting around 460-500 to a tank... i do a mixture of peak hour and normal driving. i was quite impressed with the economy of my car actually. especially given my lead foot.
I can get 600 k's with about 5-7 litres left in the tank... that's motorway driving though...
But with traffic and driving the car hard, only about 450 k's...
DC2
generally @350k's i fill up which takes up about 35 litres of optimax
how big a tank does a dc2 have?
so im not the only one that gets 350 on a tank
i use optimax =)
dis is drivin normally..
thats wat i dunt get =\
It's a 50 L tank, but I guess I drive on more of the open roads.
hard to believe eh?
i get 360 den d petrol light pops up
do u fink cleanin or changin the airfilter and sparkplugs wil make a diff?
how many litres do you fill up with when you hit 350??Quote:

what airfilter do you have?
Do you ever use injector cleaner?
wen i filled up it clicked at 39 litres or somethin
not sure, didnt look at it properly, jus rushed off to pay it
i got d stock filter still
plannin to put the k & n pod in soon
d whole car still stock
havnt used injector cleaner b4
well so you still have 10 litres left. Usually you should get more with optimax though because its a denser fuel.
try getting some injector cleaner. I sometimes use the blue bottle (chemtech) I think. Blue bottle with a picture of a truck on it. You pop a little bit in before you fill up.
Has your car been regularly serviced? ie oil change, fuel filter, oil filter, etc??
Oh, and I have a stock filter that my cousin got out of a front cut, so I doubt filter will make much difference. Is it clean?
aint u meant to only use premium for those car? thats wat it said on my petrol cap hehe
ill try the injector cleaner =)
well i jus recently bought d car from a honda dealer
apparently its been serviced etc
ive checked the airfilter, it was kinda dirty, i alreadi tried cleanin it, wasnt very sucessful. it didnt bother me much, i was plannin on changin it ne ways.
about 450k's on 38l litres
I do...I use BP ultimate.Quote:

B16A I know - but on a trip to Melbourne I get 520kms on 38 liters. That's with the SiR's gearing too.
I only run BP ultimate or Optimax in it - Optimax when I'm in Vic as Ultimate isn't the easiest to find.
ill give it a service dis weekend =) see wat diff it makes
mayb thats all it needs.
what oil do u use?
i own a civic aswell, ive always used mobile 1
I use mobil 1 5-50. I've found in the EK VTIR it tends to gulp more fuel than the teg if you rev it a bit during that driving period on that tank.Quote:

5-50 is pretty thick for street usage I would recommend 0-40 or 10-30...but for track usage the added protection of the 5-50 grade oil will be better although it does rob power just a little.Quote:

May I ask how you calculated your L/100Kms reading? (not calling you a liar :)).
Fill up tank until full. Click until it almost starts to flow over.
Reset the trip meter.
drive until fuel gets rather low... (fuel light came on in my case)
GO back to same fuel bowser and fill again. Click until it almost starts to flow over.
Note the amount of fuel in litres used.
Note the amount of kilometers traveled on trip meter.
use calculator: (Litres/kilometers) x 100
THe reason why i got such good economy because my tyres were so worn and it was raining lots in Melb... drove around like a pussy and trying new shift points... (shifting to 6th gear at 60km/h)
:lol:Quote:

why do you think 5 - 50 is thick?Quote:

B18B?
The figures most people are quoting are freeway I think. Around town with heavy throttly usage and I drop to about 350km/tank
engine from gsi teg Pete.Quote:

I've found still that in the civic you notice the fuel drop quite a lot with heavy throttly usage and you know the way I drive the teg, it still does pretty well even when I rev it...still usually get to 400kms before pouring and no yellow light. Only few times under that would have been after wakefield
I get 520-550km from 40l of optimax, that is city + highway driving and occasional vtec.
I just filled up this morning and I had 517km on the clock. This was with occasional vtec and cruising. I usually fill up with 450-500kms but I thought I'd push it this time. I think the light goes on and you can still go an extra 50 to maybe 100 kms.
i only ever fill up $20's worth of BP Ultimate (19-22L's, calculated as an average over the last 10 weeks). i get around 310~k's before i get scared of sucking up to much crap fromt he bottom of the tank. This driving is normal mix of city/suburbs. I usually put it into 5th whenever i can, but sqirt it around for traffic lights and other random drags. Its a d16y1.
The way i calculated these is bascailly as watch for the first signs of empty tank light.. But yer, i only fill halfway due to thats all i need for a weeks driving, and i end up carrying less weight round due to less fuel. if i use optimax i will seriously drop about 40k's per tank, its a very noticeable difference.
damn, i think i use a little too much throttle too often
sorry to post in an old thread :( but im new here heheh
farkkk that is excellent Q!!! in the civic, i get about 350kms, with about 7litres left, i think the tank is about 40L's??? this is mainly driving on parra road to the city n back to my home.... never really got over 400 km's, don't even recall it ever reaching over 400..... :( howcome it takes so much petrol??? i dun even vtec that much... oh yeh forgot, my car is a civic vtir..Quote:

300 Kms max! Not even tuned properly yet with stock injectors.Mind you I don't even hit 4,500 so no vtec!
well ive been using normal unleaded in my dc2 vtir for the past two three weeks.... woooooops, no one told me!
but ive been getting over 400 before my light comes on. thats with vtec occassionally and random driving, PLUS newbie manual driver who over revs a lot of the time.
put in premium last ngiht, filled up 37l, but the car seemed sluggish or something, and it was a nice cool night. maybe my launching wasnt great and so i lsot losta power in wheels spin, and so second had nothing in it. will see tongiht i guess.
eric.
ps... who's premium is better? or doesnt it matter? BP? MOBIL synergy? SHELL optimax?
iput anything in my car...
15 bux gets me half a tank. LOL
the civic does drink more than the teg when you rev it...you must get stuck in a bit of traffic.Quote:

This is a Civic VTi-R by the way.. highway driving i get bout 600 i think.
Hard driving it chews so much petrol, but its worth it :)
I had a K&N pod, but put the stock filter back on and get at least 50km more out of the tank.. but then again probably cos i like the sound of VTEC too much with the pod!
The best I've done was 670kms from the start of the Hume Hwy (Melbourne) to Manuka in Canberra.... which left me with ~1Lt.
This included a few high speed squirts and a race with another car around Parliment House! :P
After all my 137K worth of driving - I pretty much know that when the fuel 'warning' light starts blinking on and off, I've got between 100-150 kms left. Once the light remains on, I"ve got about 60-100 kms left.... which of course, depends on how one is driving!!
okok.... so premium left me with under 400kms a tank before the light came on, 385 to be exact, with vtec occassinonally to frequently...
thats BP premium, 95 octane.
then with BP ultimate, i got 400kms of HARDLY RARELY vtecing, and with 2000 unleaded from MOBIL, i seem to be getting a lot more kms, plus with quite quite a lot of vtecing, ATM im on 405kms and the light hasnt hit yet.
i drove a dc2 vtir.... can anyone explain why i seem to be getting more milage from lesser octane fuel?
im confused! isnt it meant to be the other way around
i havent gotten around to buying a5 litre or so bottle to store petrol in, cos then i will drive with the light on, and see how far i can go with that light.
Just depends on how the fuel is mixed. It is not suprising you get more kms out of synergy compared to Ultimate.
I still prefer the Ultimate over Synergy and Optimax as I find it burns cleaner....even if I lose some kms over it.
Eric, the best way to work out your fuel consumption is like this.
Fill up all the way to the top (1-2 clicks of the pump) and then zero your trip meter. Then drive around untill you get to the petrol light or towards empty.
Then fill up again and take note of how many km's you've done and also how much fuel you filled up with.
Use this to work out how many Litres you use per 100kms and post back (if you can't do the math, then post here and i'll work it out ;) )
Any other way of checking consumption (EG waiting for your light to come on) isn't accurate.
-Win
this is very bad...
i must have the worst fuel consumption ever..
i drive a 2.2 litre accord n/a with no mods.. and i estimate doing about 14L/100km...
because i can only get 450km out of a 65 litre tank! with about 5 litres to go...
im doing a proper test right now to see whats going on, i'll get back to u guys in about a week
but when u guys are getting 500km from 40 litres... my 450kms from 65 litres is looming as a huge problem =/
maybe my car is old? its a 92 model..
btw i have to drive really carefully to get 450km aswell, if i go lead footed i only get about 400km to the tank..
more displacement equals more petrol, but 14L per 100 kms? That's a bit odd. Could also be the fact that ur car is old like u said. Components get worn and eat more petty.
i should be getting 11/100 or less
i'm testing it now properly
if i end up with 13+/100 again i'm gonna assume my o2 sensor is blown and i'm burning it rich...
might try BP ULTIMATE and see if it gets any better
okay, tested out the efficiancy for my little beast on my trip down the coast.
Old motor - 430km
New motor - 520km
This includes mixed with hwy driving and city driving (not granny city driving).
400-450 kms dc2 Gsi
about 350 - 400km per tank if im lucky
Damn boost
dum di dum di dum.....
okok filled up 38.05 l........
at 408km i filled up another 39.33.......
someone help me figure out my mileage?
this was both with synergy 8000.
with HARDLY any vtec until my last 40kms where i vtecd like nutz!
thanks.
i swear it seems normal unleaded gets me further with mroe vtec! ...
for the dc2 vtir aint umeant to b usin only premuim unleaded??
yeah, thats what the sticker says.... lol
i didnt realise before.. i thought it was only recommended....
thats why, hence, ive been filling up with premium and high octane petrol now.
hehe
yeah lucky i saw the sticker too =))
well i can only get like 400ks on a full tank
thats without highway drivin
ive got the B18A1, from a full tank i can probably get close to 500 til it cuts out.
thats with a 50L tank running and tuned to 98 octane.
at the moment i get about 10kms per ltr cos most driving these days is a straight run to uni and back.
currently half a tank runs about 220
so a full should get me about 400 -440 i guess
still i feel i'm using more petrol than i should , maybe its cause i havent retuned the car since i installed the cai and catback exhaust
what brand is the best fuel to use? SHELL? BP? 7/11?
DC2R
I/H/E + tune
450km with lots of hooning
i reckon 550 if i drive like a grandma
LOL 8 year bump...
DC2 with Injen cai and skunk2 manifold... 400+km's driving sensibly
CL9 accord euro i get 550-600km when light comes on shell optimax 98 from work to home mainly , how many more km's can i do when light comes on ?
Next time you fill up, reset your Trip timer. Then when you go to fill your tank up again, fill it till it stops. Now look at the amount of litres that has been pumped in and divide the amount of KM's driven. eg. 600km / 60L's =10l/100km. If your tank has a maximum capacity of 65Litres's, you have 50km's worth of fuel left.
184 km and 20.05 litres BP Ultimate so it works out to be about 10.8 l / 100km. 2nd time I calculated with more VTECing, it was 11 l / 100km. ITR B18C. I/H/E + bigger fuel pump + fuel rails. Not tuned. RPM also idles at around 1200 when warm >_>
Sorry for reviving such an old thread.
I just got my DC2R it's pretty much bone stock except an SRI, and I'm gettin 10.95L/100KM, I pretty much shift at 3.5-5k rpm most of the time and since I just got it, there's plentyyy of spirited driving. Does that sound about normal for my fuel consumption?
Yeah thats about right for a dc2r (unless you do some hectic freeway driving, in which case it wouldn't be). SRI might be hurting it a little bit as you're sucking in hotter air leading to less efficient combustion or some shit. Most likely negligible though, but fuel economy should decrease over time as your pod gets dirty faster than one that is enclosed
Not a Teg, but just filled up my EH9 D16Y1. 441.1KMs for 39.20L. I use BP Premium 95 (since Y1 is AUDM and all...). Works out to 8.89L/100KM. That's mostly mild driving with the occasional squirt.
Sounds about right
Best I have ever got was 537km before my light came on. Half of that was highway driving and I managed to get right up behind a Ford Territory and just cruise at 115km/hour in his slipstream with SFA throttle haha.
Well my k's have very very little highway driving, and i consider my shift points pretty damn high, but once I settle down in the car I'll check my consumption again during granny driving sessions, back when I bought my brand new impreza rs, I hit 15L/100km and thought what the heck was wrong, but once I calmed down abit it went to the 10L/100km mark.
with my auto dc4 i get:
650-750kms- highway only. (interstate traveling)
450-500kms - around town and motorways.
400-450kms intown and city driving
300-350kms mountain runs/ track.
this is all on vpower!
V-Power or BP Ultimate
Mixed cruising and hitting vtec every now and then i get about 460 with 4 L or so left!
best ive had so far is 525 with 5L left in tank!
02 DC5R
DC4 on BP Ultimate
I've never seen 500km on the odometer =[
Low fuel light comes on at about 350, but I know I have plenty of fuel left.
Most I have ever put in at the pump is 42L.
I'll drive on average 35-50 KM monday to friday, so shortish trips, and varies on the weekend.
Really? I've pushed mine to 500 before on BP Ultimate, with short trips/start and stopping and everything. Only difference was I shifted at 2.5-3k rpm all day every day. No Vtec ofcourse too lol.
I'm 100% I can get over 500. The damn fuel light comes on so early I get scared to push it :-p need to get a Jerry can!
i get 422km now, and i filled up 44 litres last tank
44 X 100 / 422 = 10.4
and before i changed o2 sensor it was
46 X 100 / 385 = 11.9L per 100
forgot to mention both the same style of driving, shifting at 3.5k and vtec here n there (not much tho)
I get about 540L out of my DC5R on BP Ultimate.
I fill about 43L everytime.
DC4s have a 50L tank right? Or is it actually 40. I've never pushed it further than 38L cos it sits BELOW empty and fuel light on. I feel like seeing a number above 400 but don't wanna break down!
Take it from me charlie you dont want to put yourself in that position. When i first got my EG civic 3 years ago i tried to push it too the end and almost made a meal of it. Was driving down the freeway and almost died...ON THE FREEWAY. Luckly made it to the next exit and it died right outside the fuel station. Managed to get it started again and got it in just in time.
My advise...dont take the risk. Can get you stranded in the worst of places.
