Gear Ratio For the Car enthusiasts

ok Unlike what the title says this Spreadsheet is not for Street racing.

Use it at your own risk and Dont go speeding down the Freeway to prove that the values are correct =P..

The Spread Sheet includes many of our favorite Hondas (save the DA integra which will be soon incorporated) and tells give you the option to see your speed in KMPH at high RPm in a large range of cars and Gearboxes, with variables such as Tire size Gearbox swaps rim size and so and so..

Quick run through of how to use the Spread Sheet

Open the Spreadsheet

At the Bottom there are tabs

and before you begin.. at the top of each tab there is a Table you need to enter your specific variables (ie, Tire size, Rpm Shiftpoints)

Tiresize can be changed for each car type. as well as RPM shift point all changable values are in the red boxes..

Will the file be safe hosted there (as in can someone find it in say 1-2 years?

well the site is my internet account website so i dont plan on disconnecting from iinet so i guess its safe there if it changes ill move it somewhere else but for now im sure i will be with iinet for a very long time yet (atleast till i get a iiSLAM in my AREA DANG IT IINET!!!!)

mm just for those that dont know much about spread sheets..

if you want to change cars theres a whole lot of tabs down the bottom you select your car there. then within the spreadsheet you can alter the shiftpoint and tiresize at the top in the red box area.. the rest of it will work itself out and you just read the values you want.

if you just add suggestions i will consider them and most likely add them in. i have yet to recieve any responces from DC5 owners about gearbox mods.

if you attach the original here then it wont get updated along with the spreadsheet.. as it still gets new things put in.. if your willing i usually post my updates quite frequently you can just update your file everytime i update.

is the dc2r in there a JDM model or ADM? or they are the same?

Well I figured that incase your hosted file dissapers for whatever reason.........at least we will have one copy on here hosted on the OH server?

AFAIK they are they same.. and i took the gear ratio of the jap website it was only for a few strange ones that i had to find else where..


and wyn your more than welcome to host a copy on the OH server. just know that the file itself will change over time =P

Added Tire Comparison and Effect on your Speedometer

Fill in Tire Sizes Rim Sizes and Speed at the Speedometer and see how your new tires and Rims will affect your actual Speed VS the Speedo Speed..

can i just confirm that the formular for the outer Circumferance of a circle is 2*pi*R ???

I think the Euro page isn't for our Euro as redline is 7150rpm, so we can't reach the 7800rpm is tells us is the shift point.

noted and will be changed.. although the shift point can be changed for individual purposes it is infact a variable =P

and sometimes its going to be like that

eg. right now the civic page has both some B series and D series engines in it but theres only one variable for shift point and it changes all of them. might seperate them one day...

but yeh B16 reved higher than its civic counter part the D series so..

but its good you noticed it that meen someone is looking in the other areas besides the integra section =P

heh i just relooked at it.. the reason for the 7800 redline as i stated previously was because the Euro TL was in the same page as the Euro R.

just like the civics..

but then again dont base your redline stats against my SS since there are so many types of engines and gearboxes some of this stuff will have to remain as variables.. so they are forever changing =P..

and also that was my reasoning for not callling the variable redline aka RPM shift point

I have been somewhat slow adding new cars ehh?

Just as a Note Jazz AFAIK all the GLI Vti Vti-S uses the same manual or Auto gearbox its just different engines

Added the Gear Ratios for The new Honda Civic Fd series

I would like someone to "confirm" if the K series Gearbox from a DC5R can be fitted onto the civic i just assumed it can since it is the "same" engine

also the gear ratio information i got seems strange the civic gears are geared lower and well in 5th gear the civic in theory at max RPM and final gear can go 300+ km/h

i would just like someone to confirm that the gear ratios for the new honda civic is correct.

The S2000 page reads MY00 but the tires are from MY04+ heres a gear calculator that also includes final drive calcualtions, for comparison perhaps.

what did you need to change to suit your car ? most of the gears are all predefined..

eg if you have a dc2 Vtir goto the DC2 tab and use the Integra vtir section and just change the RPM and tire size to suit.

Added in a tab for Fully Custom Built GEarboxes So that you can PLay around with the gear Ratios and Final Drives

All stock and aftermarket Additions to the rest of the gearboxes still use the Car make and type for referance..

improvements look good. But i though i should mention that the standard MPH/KMPH on the s2000 page are a little out. There too high (ie 6th 322kmph) The gear conversion equation seems to work well, u just have to adjust your base figures (i think). The link i mentioned at the top of the page may be a comparison. Keep up the good work.

yeh i noticed that as well..

but!

Do all that and set your RPM at 3000 RPM and 6th gear it sits above 100kmph

it actually sits on 107 kmph

which sounds right.. (if someone with a s2k would kindaly confirm what rpm it sits at 100)

now to me that sounds right. i agree 322 KMph sounds insane.. but remember thats at 9000 rpms (as if it can reach those RPM in final gear)

i have fixed it up to my best abbility for s2000.

but i can only seem to get it as close as this (maybee i dont use enough decimal points)

but it seem that my formular only doesnt work for the s2000 (I DONT KNOW WHY!!!!)

but it came down to something the S2000 has is like 2 final drives that multiply up together to get their Final Drive..

But either way its pretty close now..
the website was usefull WhiteAP1.. but its hard to tell how accurate their figures are if they dont show me how they got the values.. (granted they could be more accurate than mine but i cant replicate it)

but its much more accurate now than a insane top speed of a s2000 i previously had =P.

also added a seperate TYre dimention for the 00-03 and the 04 S2000 since they are soo different

In the S2000 section u've got 6th topping out at over 300 kph.

These figures might be a bit better to go by.


1st 42.8 mph
2nd 65.6 mph
3rd 90.6 mph
4th 115.5 mph
5th 138.1 mph
6th 165.4 mph

I haven't checked all the numbers but definitely a lot of work put into it. Good stuff!

OMG i just relised !!!.. some reason the file wasent uploading.. but fixed it now! was wondering why in FTP it kept saying last updated 2 months ago =P..

With the New Civic Type R comming out as soon as i find a good source for gear ratios i am going to update this =P..

anyone got any recommendation on what to add or change?

it says my 98-01 accord shifts at 7800. That is hardly the case, moreso 6200 rpm :)

you can actually modify that.. since every engine is slightly different =P

its almost impossible to cover all bases in terms of shift point =P

also because the F series shares the same page as the H series =P.. so i covered for the higher reving engine =P

the redline is a "VARIABLE"

please peoeple read the first page.

civic has to cater for anywhere from the D series engines to the B series even a Euro K series which B and K have 8000+ Redline..

same for some of the other cars.. you can change it!
