I was wondering is the current 2005/06 model Integra available in a Type R here in Aus? All I see on the Honda web site is the Luxury and Type S. I also understand our Type R is Japan's Type S, so what does that make our Type S? Australia pov Integra's that Japan couldn't get more power out of so they sent em to us????

lol u r right with our dc5rs are japans type S rebadged with typeR...the reason 2 this is becuz our fuel is not good enough 2 run typeRs...we have 98% octane they have 107%...

Nah, Honda Japan wants to keep the Integra Type R for their own market. So they don't sell the real Type R anywhere else. The only reason why the UK gets the Civic Type R is because it is made in the UK!
Japan's premium unleaded is 100RON, which is what we have now with Optimax Extreme anyway.

The 05-06 Integra Type S replaced the Type R, more luxury, more comfortable to drive and still offer the same performance that the type R offered.

you sat in one? its actually quite comfortable and majority people who bought the type s would know. If you can afford u track, u can afford to modify therefore you can afford one recaro sportline seat then it would solve your problem.
type s seats are shit....
i m not a fat person, so i fly around left to right on the seats. and when you are wearing jeans most of the time. the leather dies quicker than recaros do. and coz they've got side airbags on the seats, you can't but seat covers over them.
I don't agree. One of the attractions of the type R is you don't NEED to make any modifications to take it to the track. Recaros are standard, so no need to make any mods that might get you defected. LSD is also standard, so no need to pull apart the car and make heavy modifications.Quote:

This have been argued so many times so its quite fun afterall. I like the Type R the way it is well packaged for sporty looks and track purposes and if i was to track every week or once a month, then i would definately choose the Type R. The Type S with no LSD can perform as well as the two previous 2 Type R generations on the track and road use. Its a personal taste obviously but the type s can be so luxury like the Euro and still have every grunt that the 2 previous type R offered and like myself as a grandpa and i dont track once a month or a week maybe 1 every 2 years or so, there isn't much to complain then. After all i feel abit more safe with the side airbags just incase shit happens and some idiot decided to ram me on the side then i hoped those side airbags do some good maybe more good than the stock recaro. If sliding really bothers u, spend 1500 for a aftermarket recaro sport topline seat like the ones in the Evo8, looks much better and offer alot more than OEM recaro's. After all 1500 is not that much, im sure alot of people spent that much on stickers and replica bodykits and clear lights

personally i do believe the owners of both TYPE S & R can be frens and have some commons in their cars.. as member Vupham points out, type R is well packaged for the Racing image/purpose of the car. Which is why 99% of the buyers saw when they done the purchase.
However, due to i guess due to reason 1 - we dont have high standard fuel, and reason 2- japanese do have the attitude of keepin the good ones for themselves. We didnt get the new faced DC5R. which is a shame, IMO.
On the other hand,we can see that they didnt gave up on intergra as a whole, they still brought in the TYPE S, which as again we can see, they trying to balance both luxury and sporty elements. Which i think they did a pretty good job.. most ppl are found they are good sports coupe to drive.. the only ppl i feel abt is those who wants to buy a brand new DC5R after 04, unforuntaly i cant understand why Honda Aust didnt fight it for us.. i dare say, if they bringing the JDM DC5 here, even the price matches the sti or evo, many guys will still pay for it... I might have to save it a bit longer, but i still buy my DC5R
Then again, i dont think many local DC5R owners had looked back on their purchase. i guess the market supports that too..

Australian Type S is a detuned JDM Type R with the base model's body and interior
just get the type s, they are nice too
if i really want type r, get a type s, then put recaros in and the type r badge to rice it up :D
Buy a DC2 Type R. They're faster.
... and DC2r are more impractical to live with & difficult to drive, IMO...
firmer suspension, 5th gear cruising is highly strung, and not as roomy inside. Test drive both first before deciding!
