You're lucky you could see the guys inside. Every time I pull up next to a new Ford xr6t or xr8 or a new Holden ss, it's always at night and I can't see inside their car to see if it's a cop. So I end up not racing them in fear of license suspension.
I also raced a nice modded Lancer GSR last night. Bah! The bastard beat me, even with his two other friends in his car and me by myself. You can't win em all I guess.

all really depends on the guy drivin the SS (and the EG), but u'd think a 5.sumfin Litre V8 would beat a 4 cylinder comfortably...

5.0L VN-VT SS yes, VT series II onwards with 5.7L LS1 no
depending on how good ur rubber is and ur reaction time...
most lil 4 cyl's should beat a normal v6 or v8 off the line - just once the v8s torque kicks in they eat us in 3rd gear !!! its a fact. WE cant mess with cars 2 times + ou rcapacity on a straight line. But show them a curvy road and we are grining ! :D
I beg to differ, I dont see how a lil 4 cyl like ours with half as much torque can beat a v8 off the launch. I think v8 torque will move the car alot faster off the mark.
Further, we have FF as opposed to FR.
An Auto V8....can be taken off the mark, but not a manual. RWD has much less wheelspin and will swallow you up if its a manual!

Oh man, I cop heaps of shit from my Manager at work for having a 4 cyl car. He's got one of them V8 Trans-Ams and he's working on it I think. Anyway, I was warming my car up one morning after a graveyard, and then he comes out and tells me to rev my car. I rev it and he just laughs at me and says "listen to the growl... all those 4 tiny cylinders". And then every time he gets reminded of my car and all of my workmate's cars (coz most of us have hot 4's), he just cracks an unfunny joke about it. I think if we lined up, I would probably beat him. Man how I would love to line him up just to laugh at his "V8"! :lol:
