The definitive 'what lip will fit on my ek' thread

Thought that this might help some people out:

• All ek hatch rear bumpers are the same - so a hatch rear lip will suit any 96-00 hatch.
• Coupe, sedan and hatch front lips are compatible, but only within the same model range (ie 96-98 and 99-00) - so a 96 sedan front lip will suit a 98 coupe, but not a 99 coupe/hatch/sedan.
• 96-98 lips are also known as pre-facelift lips compared to 99-00 which are also known as facelifted lips.
• Coupe and sedan rear lips are interchangable.
• Coupe and sedan rear lips are longer in the sides than hatches and will only fit on a hatch with modification.

While I am at it, front grilles only work within the model years as well. Ie a 99 hatch front grille will only only suit a 99-00 model civic.

Genuine Honda lips have a tendancy to fit better and include a bracket system that attaches to the lip and fixs with screws/bolts to the bumper. Aftermarket lips that I have seen dont tend to have this.

rear tailights all hatch interchangeable

coupe s taillights all 96-00 interchangeable

sedan tailights 96-98 r diff from 99-00

96-98 & 99-00 coupe or sedan rear lips are NOT interchangeable. howeva a modified 96-98 rear lip will fit 99-00 (i've seen this in person). Not sure the other way round.

Regarding the 99-00 civic rear lip, I know what the EM1 rear lip looks like. Is it the same style for the sedan ?

If not, can someone post a pic of the rear lip for 99-00 civic sedan ?

The rear lips look exactly the same. I do believe however that there is a thin line looking lip that you see on some coupes in the states.

I really like the style of the ctr front lip but i can only find it in for the 96-98 ...will this fit my 99-00 ek??

no, just as a kouki(99-00) lip wont fit on a zenki(96-98) (i felt like being smart :p ) also, they are completely different, however what ive become to belive is that the CTR 99-00 lip is the same as the SI civic from the states, dont know if this helps you though.

As 97ek1 stated, it will not fit. That being said, I have seen copy lips that have been reworked to fit the facelifted model - check ebay in the states.

Speak with Leo (PM 'Hondar') as I know that he did have some genuine ctr lips to suit the facelifted hatch a while ago.

i can't c y anyone would want the 96-98 lip to fit 99-00, too chunky for the streamlined facelift look.

however i have seen many 99-00 lips fitted to 96-98, looks ok i guess, hehe.

anyway, yeah the 99-00 ctr and usdm si/audm em1 lips are exactly the same.

Does anyone know any bodykit places or where to buy aftermarket front and rear lips for a EM1 civic coupe around sydney.

i bought a type r grille for 99-00 and the thing doesnt even fit and the strange thing is that the it doesnt bolt up to the 5 holes

It is either:
a) a grill for a 96-98
b) a poor replica (usually these dont have all the bolt holes and/or in the wrong spot)

PS. is the normal EK side skirt, similar to ek9 sides?

all ek hatch skirts are the same i belive

i will take some phtos of the grille and will post up on wednesday

the back of grille says im not too sure lools doesnt seem to fit right for my ek sedan

to answer you questions, its rare to find a geniune EK9 lip, bodykit shops make a one piece front bar with the lip attached. however replica lips are sold all the time, check in trader section, one is for sell i believe for the pre-facelift model

can someone please write up the compatability of bumpers please?

prefacelift EK bumper interchangable with EJ i believe? what about sedans?

NOTE: it would be good if a MOD clean up this thread and update the 1st thread to keep it informative instead of having ppl searching through the whole thread for answers. just an advice :)

EJ and EM rear Lips will not fit on EK sedan and Hatch lips it's some what wider..

OK
96-98:
front lip ALL same across coupe/sedan/hatch
rear lip - coupe=sedan sedan but will not fit hatch

99-00
front lip all same across coupe/sedan/hatch
rear lip - coupe=sedan sedan but will not fit hatch

in general for front lips as long as its the same yr range will fit no problem

nick.. sedan and coupe lips for 99-00 is different.. we're tried on a black EJ and the size of it is different

and yes front lips are same

Is the lip you tried a genuine piece? The 99-00 genuine rear Honda lips that I have access to fit both a coupe and sedan, while the 96-98 rears also fit coupes and sedans.

my rear lip has been fitted on a EM1 no .. perfect fit...

Ej8 only came in 96-98

Lol Nick i can show u a facelift EJ8 to you any time u want..:D infact it's parked outside now..
inregards to the Lips we have trial fit one at R-sense and the results are incorrect size of fitment.. this is speaking from my personal experience..:zip:

coz its repliaca they neva fit well....

on a side note... EJ8 only comes 96-98...

if u talking abt the coupe auto gli 99-00 its called ej6 or sth like that

but def not ej8

yes,just take out all the bracket in the middle and they will fit

I fit an OEM EM1 lip to a 96 EJ8 with relative easy with the use of metal strips and sealant

could provide pics if need be?
