how does turbo charging compare to na?
in terms of power, money and overall value for moeny
more power for less money
this should probably be int he forced induction forum though
oh shit
sorry newcomer
haha
Turbocharging is, and will most likely always remain, the best cost : power investment for the combustion engine. N/A may not be as cost effective at delivering raw power, but it has its other advantages and pulls a different following to the force induction crew.
It all depends on how much power you really want. There is a limit to how much power you can put to the wheels of a front wheel drive before you have serious traction issues (and thus, street drivability concerns). If you're just looking for a bit more go with added reliability and perhaps a more linear power band, N/A is a good choice. If you want to "smoke 'em up", drag, or drift, turbocharging is better bang for your buck, (although unless you specifically wanted to challenge the FWD class, I would be asking myself why I didn't go AWD or at least rear wheel drive for this purpose).
Hope I haven't been too biased in my comments...
EDIT: from cost:power to cost : power LOL :D
but ohh man it feels SO GOOD to chop a turbo with your N/A.. ohh yeah !!

funny u mentioned...i did own a subaru wrx before ek4.
good fun to drive..but i feel it lacks bit of power.
thanks for ur help!
yeah the throttle response gets me goin:P my old mans got an 02 Wrx sti and i hate it ya try to heel toe at low rpm and the ****er does nothing ya simply touch the pedal in the teg and up the revs jump......(drools) NA all da way:)
there's no reason you can't do a turbo set up that has wonderful throttle response... all a matter of how the turbo system is designed.Quote:

honestly...how often does that happen?Quote:

u cant compare the 2... with the amount of money u spend on mods to a n/a car u could have a 12sec turbo for less.. though u would be spending more on the long run with a turbo with all the fuel/tune ups/parts/repairs/insurance etc
How on earth would you be spending more in the long run with a turbo setup?
To make power you use fuel, so regardless of which setup both are going to use fuel.
Tuning a high power na setup will cost the same, if not more then a turbo setup. More fine tuning in a high power na setup as your going for every last bit of power.
Parts, well fcuk both setups require parts, na is going to cost you more money for a similar power or time on a track.
Insurance is going to be the same, insurance goes on how many modifications you have on the car aswell, not just whether it is boosted or not. Here is some news for you, insurance on a turbo honda was more then a wrx for myself.
less u mean?
mate im jus talking about a turbo honda vs slightly modded n/a honda...
anyway regardless of what car u have, fuel for turbo car, required = 92 high octane or higher (more expensive then normal unleaded isnt it? Yes)
dude, u are crazy.
to make power, you have to use fuel.
to make power, u have to increase compression
this means good fuel and u will use it.
the reason why NA honda's use so littke fuel, is cause they make no ****ing power.
lol weq dude, im jus giving my 2c with fuel costs in regards to what the guy asked... im just saying.. overall, with a turbo u would be using premium always compared to n/a car which can run on regular, as in u would be spending more for cost of fuel each week, das all...Quote:

All our turbo cars use Shell Optimax so sometimes the weekly fuel bills can be a lil  But if you can afford the 'better' quality/octane fuel.. then why not right? Turbo or NA tho.. if you drive like a hoon constantly your car will literally drink your fuel silly
Im all in for NA cars.. I drive turbo but you'll catch me daydreaming over a sweet looking Honda especially a Type R Integra anyday LOL
Sometimes you see NA cars modded up soo much to achieve more power etc.. its just too funny. Makes you wanna say 'dude, just go buy yourself a turbo'
I think with turbo and NA, it'll cost you around the same either way
narh turbo way cheap and gains are easier
personally if i had a bit more money i would have just got a turbo car from the start
i dont get peoples facination with the 'na all the way attitude' na is boring...
i like the VROOM pssssh hahaha :D
bcozz n/a is more impressive.. wen u see an n/a pulling 12's.. u sperm ur pants dont u? but wen u see a boosted car pullin 12s.. its something u see everyday so its like meh?
lol no mate...Quote:
