animal EG!!!

well i have finished my friends engine swap, it took two weekends to do as we had to wait on parts etc. me and my friend swapped in a B18CR (j-spec) into our good friends EG sedan and let me tell you now, this thing is an animal!
we purchased the engine last week from our local importer for 5500$ with mugen extractors, which to anyone is very cheap as the headers alone are 1500$. my accord pulls a 14.4 and this lil sedan left me for dead. we are expecting very high 13's - very low 14's out of this lil beast.
will post some pics soon and let you know on its 1/4 mile progress...

Sweet. Brisbane is getting very fast B's and K's nowadays.

Turbo DC5 220+fwKW, B20 EK NA monster, EG with a K20, EK coupe with a K20, plus an EK drag race car soon to be released. Tough competition for B16s!

tell me bout it! b16's in brisbane used to be the fast hondas... now they got nothing!

will be good to see the progress of this one, let us know how it goes, 13's would be nice!

yeah all original JDM goods... the only australian stuff in it is one civic mount and the radiator hoses.

This B18C must have cams or something if your accord runs 14.4 and the EG chopped you.. hrmm.. good price for swap !!

without cams shoudl be able to pull low 14's or high 13's wif gud driving skills

umm the aftermarket mods are as follows; Mugen 4-1 headers, K&N pod. the headers have been wired to the stock civic cat and pipe just so we could drive it last nite.
it kept 'nose to passengers door' with a DC5 type-R with cams and ECU and the K20 EJ was a carlength ahead. i know breaking 13's in an N/A is not that easy but it is possible, my good friend can drive and drive well... we will aim for low 14's if its any quicker than that its a bonus on our behalf.

we had a back to front (OBDii-OBDi) harness and barefootbanzai copied it as he knows his wiring shit.. big up to barefoot!
other than that, a very straight forward swap.. the only modifying we did was change the stock civic radiator to a bigger accord radiator, which only needed braket relocating

i wanted to go sedan rather than hatch cos i guess hatch has been done alot and wanted to do something a bit different... but it comes down to personal preference,, it would go hard out in either

nice nice. would the ITR radiator fit?

didnt get a ITR radiator with it.. but yea it would fit if u got 1... had to modify the radiator and AC mounts a bit but it was pretty simple

Have u got any idea on which aftermarket exhaust system ur getting yet? How big the piping going to be 2.3 or 2.5? Custom exhaust or u going JDM brand, like spoon or mugen etc?

u can eaily order the conversion harness from america.. i picked mine up for $50, which was a real bargain! hehehe (try ebay)

or u can wire it up urself if u know wat ur doing, save urself some money;)

I have a custom 2.5 exhaust from Rob Bliss exhaust with DC Sport Headers and AEM CAI. The headers aint the best, I would like to upgrade to Toda headers, but the car sounds great. :thumbsup:

what radiator did you use and did u modify the mounts for it?

we used an accord radiator and just moved the mounts accordingly.. it was very simple

J Spec has run a 14.4 at willowbank. I saw the run.
I reckon we should all get out to track and trully test out these cars. I'm going tonight with my B16a AH.

2mprss ran 14.4 if im not mistaken with just a b18c from a vtir. Althought his car is a hatch but hatches isnt so heavier than the sedan?
But some people have been been running high 13s or very low 14s in an eg with just a type r transplant.

well i cant really say its gonna run better than 14.4.. but rolling start that black dc5R with I/H/E should beat jspec accord but jspec can launch his car really good so thats prolli why he can get a very similar time.. there are heaps of factors so there isnt much point estimating shit until we actually take it to willowbank..
BTW jspec has the timeslips to prove his shit so no bullshit here

slowegg is right and plus my car is stripped out so the weight difference isnt goin to be huge.... the sedan isnt that much heavier car than a hatch

Paul DC5, yo man on that night i was not dropping very good and my car is sluggish in 2nd gear as my ECU is throwing out 5 codes i need to check... b4 you judge me and my car, look at my stats and read my timeslip, i pulled a 14.4 twice when we went to the track and alot of ppl can back me up on it so dont hate. i said it wasted me cos it did on the nite.. i had a passenger, he didnt. i was comparing its speed against the cars it competed against... it was neck-neck with a familia running 14psi and kept a K20 EJ's tail which to me is quite impressive... what were you in?

I hope we will rise our game a bit, at the moment there is lots of b swaps around and few people are boosting their bs, I think in next year or two we will have a big rise

main thing holding us back is the fact that we have few ecu tuning options for our hondas (within a reasonable budget) , therefore kinda limits the extent of mods that can be done and hence tuned without breaking the bank.
plus its still very turbo oriented here lol so plenty of nissans
