Hey, Prolly a noob question i know but are there any aftermarket cams, adjustable cam gears and Valve springs ect on the market for non Vtec engines?
I have a 95 GSI with extractors, 2 1/4 inch exhaust and a custom SRI with K&N stuck on the end (planning on lightweight flywheel soon) and i whould enjoy reaching beyond my 6900 redline. please tell me if i'm waisting my time but i hant got the cash for a turbo or Vtec conversion.
any info whould be great, thanks in advance.

SAFC might be better first option, then followed by cams...

i just brought a whole bunch of stuff for my car which is exactly what UR talking about, power for the non-vtec engine
on my car the da9 i got Stage 2 Crower Cams, Crower Retainer Spring Set, And some Crower Cam Gears, in total it all cost me around 1400 bucks (cams were 400 coz i brought them from a mate, rest came from USA)
they go by the engine not the car, so they WILL have things for ur car, what engine is it again (i got no idea) my next step and i think is vital is a SAFC becuase whats the point in having it all if it isnt running rioght, u need the tune to get it all right, plus u gain alot from a fairly cheap mod

after exstencivle reading post after post about Crower cams i believe the 403's are better than the 404's, becuase they provide a better "daily" driving consistancy wiht not as harsh idle and things like that

The Super AFC II (Air Flow Converter) is the industry standard for sub computer fuel control. The S-AFC II is designed to fine tune and "squeeze" power out of existing engine setups by allowing the user to modify the fuel curve with precision accuracy. Since the act of simply bolting on performance products does not make maximum horsepower, the S-AFC II allows the user to calibrate the fuel system in accordance with performance upgrades as they are installed. The AFC modifies the air flow meter/ pressure sensor signal voltage going to the factory ECU (Engine Control Unit) to change the amount of fuel injected. The S-AFC II utilizes a VFD (Vacuum Florescent Display) to display critical data in three different modes.
Features for the S-AFC II include:
Newly designed case and user interface, single button menu navigation, 12 point fuel correction in 200 RPM increments, data storage for two different correction maps, password protection, integrated knock monitor, and 4 different display options.
The S-AFC II, while not completely universal, comes preprogrammed with 15 of the most commonly used air flow meter/pressure sensor maps. By setting the AFC to one of these programs, the user is able to adjust injected fuel amounts by +/- 50%. 12 user defined RPM adjustment points allow for fine tuning in 200 RPM increments. Fuel can also be adjusted for part or full throttle situations.
The Deceleration Air Flow Correction cures erratic idle problems for Hot Wire vehicles equipped with an open atmosphere blow off valve. The S-AFC II can also display an incredible amount of data including: Air Flow Capacity (Hotwire and Flap Type only), Engine RPM, Throttle Position, Pressure Sensor voltage, Karmann Frequency, and Air Flow Meter Correction.
The S-AFC II displays data in three different modes: Numerical, Analog, and Graph. Numerical Mode allows the user to monitor up to four different parameters in numbers and also shows peak hold values on demand. The Analog Mode displays up to two values in an easy to read meter style display. Peak Hold is also included in this function. The Graph mode offers real time graph plotting with a Ghost map trace feature built in. The graph can replay movement up to 60 seconds.

I would hate to know the price of that SAFC Neo... although that is a great mod to have due to the fact that u can ultimately tune your car from the cockpit and monitor almost everything, Let us know how the cams go aswell!!
IMO for the effort and expense of aftermarket cams and valvetrain etc.. i'd say you're better to try and find a B16A(2) head and ECU and do the VTEC conversion. The VTEC head will give you much higher gains than just non-vtec cams and will provide much more flexibility for future mods...
think about it once you whack cams etc in a non-vtec and approach the engine's limits, you're still only in stock B16A territory.. B16A head on your B18B block and you're closer to type R
i havent got it installed yet, so far im buying stuff after every pay check lol i still got headers and either SAFC or neo to buy. the neos are 570 from ebay (inc shipping) and the SAFCs u can get 2nd hand for like...300Quote:

your cam gears power estimate should be deleted as they wont get you any 'extra' power.. theyre there to get you the max hp from the cams..Quote:

With these mods, a good tune (emphasis on GOOD tune) and the condition of your existing gear/engine, you should be looking at about a 25-30kw at the fly gain max.
Dont be too dissapointed if the numbers sound low, torque and drivability will be the main improvements.

I considered doing this for a long time w/ my gsi. In the end I couldnt justify the money spent for the gains.
Secondly I now have a factory turbo car in the ranks and it's a whole nother kettle of fish!
Poor integra! off to the g/f you go, lol.
the motor is like 2000ks old, so itll get the max possible gain from the cams, given that the compression ratio is tip top. its already like as fast as v6 commodores, just from the fresh motor, and once i do this gear ill burn them :)
