No mods I got about 30 miles to the gallon after I rebuilt her the first time. Ran better then new. With mods I get 30 gallons to the mile!! Not really, it's down to 15/20 mpg on low boost and mapped for racing runs 10/12 mpg $3.19USD / Gallon, and race fuel is about the same. We get it cheap, we buy it by the drum and the station is a sponsor.
Geez, I better place my seats further back so my feet just touches the pedal.. With the increasing petrol prices around, I should have brought a Honda City or something (",)V Its costing a fortune to run a car in vtec.
I get the same as you and my car has quite a few mods.
IF you can afford a type R does the petrol price really matter?
You bought a performance car, with great fuel enconomy anyway.

well i dont owen a ITR but i have a b18c7 and it drinks bout 350 tank . 35L tank in my civic. its just under 10L/tank for me. but i guess i have a lighter car?
Wow, my 38L on my B18C gives me 450KG to an empty tank. 500KM easy if I drive like a grandma, 300KM on the equivalent of a track day. The 450KM I usually get is roughly 20% spirited driving.
I'm under the impression that an EK civic is heavier than a Type-R Integra.

Pretty funny (I actually drove my car with a lot of vtec but on long winding roads and got some of the best fuel economy ive ever got before (450km)
Maybe VTEC improves your fuel economy lol
the most ove every gott out of my stick r is 445, and that was on the way to canberra and back, driving around sydney, i get about 320 to 350, of course i forgotten how it feels because im unlicensed anyways

It's all a relative measure. Just because you're on vtec doesn't mean that you're going to be using "more fuel" than if you weren't "on vtec". A non-VTEC engine producing similar torque at similar V.E. will be sucking in the same ammount of "air" therefore assuming correct tuning, will be sucking down the same ammount of fuel.Quote:

Do u not consider rego/ insurance to be a running cost ? It costs your more per month than fuel does.
Other than that Type R doesn't really cost anymore to run than a civic or regular integra. unless you blow the motor.

VTECACCORD has made a point.. jus because everyone is talkin about petrol cost doesnt mean the things that he has said is out of point.. as a threadstater u wernt specific in wat u wanted.. ie milage from a fuel tank.. vtecaccord has gone 1 step more and added insurance premiums etc etc..
FUEL CONSUMPTION is all dependent on how u drive. theres no point putting how much u get out of the 35L or so from a DC2R tank.. its better to put xL/100km as then u can compare to each other better.. as i said before i can get upto 500km/40L which is about 8L/100km , but usually i get 9-10L/100km.. haha (around 400-450km/tank)
petrol isnt the only cost in running a car.. unless u got ur parents payin for insurance etc.. some of us pay for everything to do wit the car.. n wen u really think about it . cars really suck the life outta the wallet..
but i love my car.. so i dont care hahaha

Update - Just had my car fixed.
A universal 02 Sensor was fitted at a much reduced cost (Belive it was a Ford Falcon actually) and now I get 500kms with a few vtecs here and there and perhaps a spirited run.. I am positive if all highway driving I could pip 600-650 :)

Also had all valve clearances re-adjusted (all were way out) and it made a big difference to noise, top end power and seems to have also made the engine more responsive.

I dont know what you guys are talking about. I can easily get 600kms out of a tank on my DC2 VTIR... This is if i drive normal for the tank... And this is untill my petrol lights been on for awhile.

Felix -- It is a Universal 4 Wire 02 Sensor - 100% Sure and it was CHEAP compared to Honda parts thats for sure. They had to make an adapter for the plug about $20 but they said it was a Ford Falcon one (Different shape inside, but same job etc)

get about 400km per tank, only take it down to 1/4 full - then I refill - so, im only filling up about 35 litres
drove from Murray Bridge SA to Vermont South VIC without having to refuel. Although it was very empty, still made it about 670km's. Spent the whole time sitting behind a massive b double.
Mine does about 350 with a lot of spirited driving...

hey remember it's not how fast your going that uses fuel, it's how hard your engine is workin.
If your in neutral your reving to bout 1,000 usually,
wen you push the nuts out of it it's revin to the redline of 8,400 now more revs mean more fuel used faster, and oposite less revs equals less fuel being used.

I get 410-420 on a tank and that is just before the fuel light goes on, that is my normal driving which includes some granny and some spirited driving. If I go full on spirited driving (cruises ect) I get around 360-370, with full on granny driving I can get 500.
By the way it's DC2R with air intake, 4-1 headers and 2.5" custom catback, car has just under 50000km done so yeah.
I think what he was refering to was the fact that unless its constantly downhill, you'd get better economy if you leave it in gear and lightly on the gas rather than going from neutral back into gear to get back up to speed (accelerating / decelerating).Quote:
