Anyone know if possible to import one of those new civic TypeR into australia
Only if Honda Australia acknowledges that it is unique (which is possible since there is no 3 door) and someone does all the paperwork and cut through the red tape as well as submit a procedure for compliancing the car to ADR.
I work for Honda and Honda is bringing the new Civic Type-R in Jan 2007 and expect to be $39000 + ORC. <will update as soon as i get the price>
too much. At most should be 35000. At most.Quote:

DUDE are u sure they are bringing the new civic type R.. coz im like very excited
untill i see this baby at a dealer i will not believe it:)
gd3-typer has given us a glimpse of hope.. if we dun get this R, Honda's like turning into dweebs! DWEEEEEEEEEEEEBS!!! $39,000+ isnt too bad at all..
Are you CERTAIN they will be coming? I may save for one :)
Any1 got a link to the latest pics etc of it? And what colours etc they come in?
isnt a mazda 3 mps around the the 40k mark?
http://www2.carsales.com.au/new-cars...ch_distance=25
just look at that
the new CTR is said to be 40k? its a LITTLE much, but its in the right price range and its a definite competitor with the mazda3 mps, sure the MPS3 has more power, but turbo is overkill for a FWD, id imagine itd handle gay, but then im a biased honda lover, haha
and remember teh civic has VTEC
lol
Honda Australia's bringing this car in in Jan. 2007? It doesn't even go on sale in Europe until March, so unless Australia is the first market to receive this car, I have my doubts.
SiR: please dont say things like that... it'll hurt alotta peepz! :)
i need 2 see this thing in the flesh...
certainly looks the part. I actually love the look of the new CTR  also has some impressive specs. Nice. Can't wait for that to come to OZ. well we will see anyway...
I agree, nice shape and very futuristic i find, though not sure how long it will be that OZ gets this car and whether it would be imported direct from England or will it be made in Thailand like the new Jazz's and Accord V6's, which I doubt anyway. Or will we be buying UK-JAP tuned ones?.....
but anyway, I guess we shall see....
In the meantime, a teaser for you Civic lovers....enjoy!

i really doubt they will bring it in jan 07. and 39000 prob is the basic with things stripped. and i still think its alil steep. i duno maybe it could compete with the GOLF GTIsQuote:

man if they do bring it over to Aus, Honda will down tune it no doubt. It happend to the DC2R and DC5R, so its going to happen to the Civic Type R.
JDM EP3 CTR had 156kW. So the 147kW of this new CTR seems like a reasonable detune.Quote:

It's a pity that you don't understand.Quote:

another more important reason is jap likes to keep its best stuff a little more exclusive to home, me thinks...
WHile I believe for the Type Rs that it's a fuel octane issue, the same thing happened with the Accord Euro. We got 140kW while Japan and USA had the 147kW. The engine is physically the same as when you tune both using hondata, the final power is the same for both types of engines.
I'm so confused with K24 engine number between US and AUQuote:

Maybe Honda screwed the engine stamping assy.....
40g for a new type R civic? you gotta take into account the on road costs as well.
Add 4g for all the dealer dilvery, stamp duty, rego etc. proablably another 1-2g of extras and then insurance :S
maybe it would be better to wait for the second hand market for one of these hot hatches :p
Our K24A3 is also used in the UK version of the Accord 2.4L. Oh well, guess they needed someplace to use the K24A3 (was used previously in the Accord Wagon AWD, which is not sold anymore).Quote:

The old EP3 CTR was slightly faster than the DC5R on the track as shown by Best Motoring.Quote:

I think it depends on which track.
I mean, the EK9 could beat the DC2R on certain circuits too, mainly because it is a short hatch.
However in most Honda Racing challenge cups or event, EP3 can't actually beat the DC5R, and DC5R is only slightly quicker than DC2R. EP3 can't win in mostly anything that has a straight line *_* But corners - different story!
It'll beat an NSX going downhill, almost with certainty!
Over a cliff you mean? :DQuote:

As for us getting it before Europe... I think the boys at Honda Aust have been standing a bit close to the petrol fumes :P
All this news about the new CTR coming to Aus, I agree, need to see it before believing it. This all speculation even though it is said to be coming here? Those dudes who work at Honda Aust. who are members of this forum, they able to give any further details?

Honestly if I had 40K I think I'll rather buy another Euro Accord Luxury. Or a VW Golf GTI or a WRX or similar :)
In fact I'll probably consider an Integra Type S over it *_* Although purists would think the CTR is worth it, I think!
Seriously even if the CTR was over 40k id still get one. Looks great and should be faster than the ep3 it replaced!!
unfortunately, i emailed honda asutralia a few nights ago
and they replied saying they werent going to bring it in.... argh
back to j-spec in search of an ep3...
Are you serious?...so it is confirmed that no CTR is to come to Oz at all, bugger...

I remember skimming thru another article saying it's gonna be released here in oz in July!
As for emailing Honda about information, don't believe them as it's always easier to say "NO" than to say "YES" followed by explanation etc.
Should I be kicking myself for buying an auto 06 Civic Sport for $35k last week?
Can you drive a manual?Quote:

drool!
I rather go for the jdm style sedan civic r than the hatch..the eg and ek models looks much better.I think Honda has gone too futuristic..im having a slight "BAck to the future" culture shock because of the new civic typre-r hatch! its my 2cent opinion though
Well..one thing is for sure..all 2006 civic non type-r model can look forward to more and cheaper aftermarket products to soup up their ride.
if it does look exactly like that, i dont mind getting it still like the hatch more
Then no point kicking yourself. :thumbsup:Quote:

So, because this 4 door CTR is the same size and shape as to the current '06 Civic's sold here, but a slight variant, it might not be allowed to be sold in the Oz market.
Is this true?
the official car for '06 Suzuka race!! cant miss this sunday night...
i'd get the hatch over sedan though!
and LOL at JB with his beard.. looks like HoBo! roflz...
