Anyone know the legal size for rims on a honda accord? cheers
well im pretty sure the rule goes 2 inches on top of your original size
without it being illegal
so lets say stock 15 = 17"
someone confirm
yes. that is correct. and 1 inch wider. so, 17x7.5 is max. cos stock for V6 is 15x6.5 and 4cyl is 15x6.
ye i know bout that, but see my mate just told me that his other mate bought a newer accord that came in 16", does the rule apply for all models or just that year of model?
all models
so ure saying, if someone buys a honda accord 89, and a honda accord 07 is released and that 07 honda is brought out with 18", then the person who bought the 89 honda can stick 20" on?.. a little confusing! but u should get it
lol,
look on the side of your door,
it should have a lil sticker there
saying all the information about the car,
it will have the stock size of the rims, add 2 inches and 1 inch width
each car will be different,
15 = 17,
16 = 18, and so forth
so no, if the 07 comes with 20" the 89 will not be able to put 20"
only what its original wheel size is.
yeh i might go and buy 17" to be safe ey, dont wana get defected and have to sell em so cops dont break ma balls.. do u no anything bout a air breather?
u mean filter?
na i know wot a air filter is.. it says that its called a mini pod filter (air breather) someone sed it goes on the top of the catch can, but im not 100% sure
nah id probably start another thread lol, and someone will help u
yeh i did, sorry i mean oil breather..but i guess i have to wait for posts
i know ive seen a few on some Hardcore engine bays,
i dont think there really necessary with an accord.
its not 2 inches. its the rolling diameter. if you get bigger rims you can fix the problem by buying a thinner profile tyre. and dont worry about what size rims on an accord, cops wont even bother pulling you over unless they're realllly bored. i had 17"s on my EG civic for 2 years and i onli defected once and that was because i had blue parking lights and it caught the cops attention.
I think 18s on an Accord are OK, even though its illegal. Because when you put things in ratio, 18s aren't large for our whale accords. some may say, normal. Only picky anal cops might dick u for it.
It stupid cos cars of the similar size (i.e. commodres) come factory fully lowered with 19" sports wheels already.
18z are fine . . . but if you want a comfortable ride . i'd go 17z
Iv actually just sold my 98 accord that had 18s on it. No problems with rubbing or cops for that matter.
The wheels are for sale if anyone is interested.

your with that UNEEK club arnt youu??
Yeah, well sort of. My mate is good mates with GOKUL in the 300c and they invited me into the club . The thing is they never do anything together so its not much of a club as such. Plus iv got a new Euro now and its stock, but i'll change that on the weekend.
yehh i saw you guyz at that "charity cruise" at bunningz . .
noticed u were tha only one with tha same car az me out off like 500 cars lol . . same colour and all . .
Yeah thats the one. Man they are sweet cars to cruize in but have got a bit of go too. I would have kept mine longer but i wanted a euro. Its a white 6 speed with a 1000kms on it and am getting it lowered on the weekend. Next will be the wheels. Still trying to decide what. I want black with a chrome dish.
yehh they great carz. .
blak wit polishd lip wuld look hot . .
i want a white 2005 accord . . i luv the shape so big and luxurioussss mmm
18's are NOT illegal.Quote:

You can actually engineer any size rims you like, as long as the speedo has been recalibrated, the rims do not stick out from the bodywork, you dont foul on the inner guards/suspension/brakes and the track is within specification if you havent made any alterations to structural suspension bits etc.
my rims are 18x8", which is +3" in diameter and +2.5" in width. No problems being engineered or passing through the ACT RTA.
How much u seeling em for?Quote:

These are suggestions based on the relevant ADR (ADR 23 i think) and as you can see there is scope for significantly larger wheels and tyres even just going by their suggestions.

What you should do is check with a wheel shop to see what they think. I dont know if you remember the car GEMBEL. It was an orange widebody civic that was around a few years ago. Well, i bought that and in 8 months i got defected only once. The main reason for defects is driver attitude.Quote:

sorri for bringing up n old thread but iv got a lowered 5th gen with 18s, they fit perfectly, they look neat and not overkill which would catch cops attention and iv never had dramas with cops even wen one was looking over the car...,
also, my tyres are 225/40 r18 and its within 10mm of the original rolling diameter
hey there i was thinking of getting 18s. so they are still legal.Anyone had any insurance declined on a claim for having 18s on a 98 accord?
i got 20's on my 2001 accord lol. Haven't been defected yet
lol and now u will be...
2 inches above stock outer tread diameter
i.e
lower the profile, and up the diameter of the tread to fit larger rims
I got defected once.. in melbourne.. car too low.. oversize rims (it was 18").. even the power cable for amp!!! if you modify your car.. you'll just have accept the fact that they can find any reason to give you defect paper.. "they are just doing their job"
i put up the mod laws somewhere, it has the rim and tyre rules in it, search for that
it isnt 2 inchs tho, its a maximum of 25mm increase in width and total diameter must alter more than 5mm, pretty sure that was bout it, check my modlaw post says it all in there
(been sitting on 20's for half a year and have had no problems, my stocks where 16)
yeh strugglin to find suspension for it atm, cant quite afford air-runners, and cant find any springs just to make do till i can afford them. Never had any issues with this car n cops ever. the local cops new my old car, pulled me over on average 2-3 times a week in my widebody s14a. but since swapping, no issues at all
i think most police dont do us VIP cars, simply for the fact that we aren't street racing stereotypes. we dont drive high powered, vehicles, and we dont drive carelessly. thats the general thought process i'm lead to believe.
