i have a jdm dc5r flywheel and an exedy clutch designed for dc5r... they fit and work just the same
Did you notice a big difference in clutch action and a big difference with engine response?
is the flywheel lighter on the JDM models? how much did u get it for if you dont mind me asking?
the clutch feels a bit heavier and the take up point is much more on/off compared to the standard unit. Other than that I've found it to be fine for everyday driving. The exedy one i have is also a bit noisier compared to stock.
The flywheel from the JDM DC5R is significantly lighter than the standard flywheel in the DC5's in Australia. 4.7kg vs. about 8-9kg for the standard accord euro flywheel.
I personally loved how the car felt after getting it installed and that one modification alone (combined with aftermarket clutch) did more for the responsiveness of the car and how it accelerated than I/H/E combined.
The flywheel itself was about $450 brand new from honda japan, the exedy clutch about 450 or so aswell, labour was about 300. Not cheap but when you consider most exhausts systems go for about the same and do relatively little in comparison its a bang for the buck modification... no doubt in my mind anyway.
expensive? nah thats pretty cheap IMO. all up $1200 for it all installed is pretty good considering you are getting a flywheel too.
4.7kg ay? hmm seems quite light. any stalling problems? i want to change the clutch in my Euro when i get some cash. im used to a 1080kg job and that was light to me lol the stock clutch isnt 'sporty' enough for my liking.
what was the rating of the pressure plate in the exedy kit?
Yea i agree, some people just prefer visible/audible mods - you dont get wank factor with a flywheel and clutch haha.
yea 4.7kg is quite light and weighs about the same as the exedy flywheel so i went for it because it was slightly cheaper and guaranteed honda quality.
I didn't like the stock clutch to much either, just felt too spongey. I was happy with the more aggressive feel of the exedy. From memory it was rated to 400hp.
I stalled the car a few times when i first drove it because the flywheel and clutch combo is a fair bit more jerky on take off and you need to give it a few more revs (500rpm extra or so) to take off smoothly. I wouldn't want to go any lighter than 4.5kg or so because of this. Once you get used to it though its ok also a bit easier once the clutch starts wearing in a bit and is less on/off

a button clutch might be a little too agressive for the gearbox, things might begin to break!
Nah, not on Honda's mate. Even civic gearboxes handle well over 400hp very easily.........Quote:

I chose the organicto make the clutch a bit firmer and 'sportier' feeling.

nah it was fun once you built up the muscles in your left leg :) and damn that clutch hooked up!
in comparison, i found my wifes ex-corolla's clutch hard to push after driving the euro for a week. before that, the clutch on the corolla was like the throttle on my S15.
as light as the clutch is in the euro, its very grippy, but some days i have trouble with the friction point. i think a fluid change is in order sometime soon
my euro drive best when i wear colorado shoes, always release and throttle precisely on that friction point, it sux when i wear my nike. i don't know its just something i can't adjust myself... :(
thinkness of the sole of the shoe? i had the same problem wearing my work shoes in the S15, couldnt drive for shit. easy in my royals! with the euro i found it an overall easier car to drive so i can wear thongs even and i can still drive :)
