Hey all,
I've run into a big problem with my gearbox today and i'm not sure whats wrong. When the car is off, i can change gears like usual, but as soon as i turn on the engine, i can't get into any gears at all and when i try put it into reverse it crunches...
Any ideas of what could be wrong?

sounds like clutch not disengaging?
Is it a new clutch?
Or is it a really old clutch? I know when i broke the pressure plate on my old car, it had a problem engaging gears and would crunch
yeah this is the k20.
No its not a new clutch... but that could be the problem now that i think about it.
The gearbox has a slight crack in it and it exposes the clutch and fly. Recently there was some heavy rain in my area and maybe something is caught in there or the rain fkd it up...
Limbo, could u engage in gears? cause i can't get into them at all.
mayb your release bearing is not operating properly.. or slave cylinder out of fluid...
if there is no fluid try topping up bleeding that first.. then worst comes to worst u have to take out the gearbox to c wat the problem could b.
remove the plastic thingo on the clutch fork.. not sure about k20.. but the b series one is on the front side.. see if it engages firstQuote:

hmmm... what everyone is saying is all well and nice
but something is telling me that maybe a crack in the gearbox would be the first thing to check

I think he's refereing to a gap that you can look through and see the flywheel etc. Never seen it on my B-series engine but i have seen it on nissans etc.
Check your fluids first. Check your master and slave cylinders also. If you can see the flywheel through that gap (which i have never seen on a honda) get someone to operate the clutch so you can see whats happenin.
In saying this tho i've never seen the gap that your refering too so the whole idea could be useless.
No harm in trying tho.

the crack on the gearbox is on the casing, so i dont think that it has alot to do with what is happening. It may have let something inside and jammed it from spinning but apart from that i can't picture how it could do any harm.
I shall check out the fluids and the clutch fork tomorrow to see if it engages. If all is well then ill rip my engine out and have a look at the gearbox.

Other then that it has to be a clutch problem. goodluck with it.
it shouldnt b anything to do with the casing.. coz all that would b exposed to "air" would b the clutch,flywheel,pressure plate and release bearing....Quote:

and why would u need to take out engine ?? to get out gearbox ?? you cant just take out gearbox ??? is that a problem with the hybrid k20 ?
lol just saw this. I'll have a look after work tomorrow. Let just hope it's a stuffed clutch.
I will check all the fluids tomorrow. And yes, to remove the gearbox you either have to put it onto a hoist, which i dont have, or rip the whole engine out.:thumbdwn:Quote:

Had a look today, the fluids are fine and cylinders are all fine aswell. Got some help from the boys and they said its clutch so i'm gonna start ripping it apart soon. Maybe throw in a new hd clutch and fly while im at it.
Sang you aint having much luck man! how did the driveshafts turn out? did you measure them?
