About 8km is my limit lol. The engine wasnt stuttering or anything though.
Mine went down to 13km last week.
Damn you '06 owners with ya multidisplays.
I have no idea how much I had left but I have driven 100km's in the city with the light on. Had about 2-3 litres left.
oh well.. can't believe they left it out.. and took them a few years to put it into the new models lol..
i know on the 04' managed to squeeze 80km from when the fuel light comes on.. that's with 5L or so left in thank when i fuelled up.
I use 50km as a rule of thumb when the light comes on, gives about 10L left in the tank roughly.. depending how you drive.
I think there's about 10L left when the light comes on. That's a range of 100km with a manual in the city. But try not to go too low. If the fuel pump picks up an air bubble, then your combustion will become lean.
ive driven down to 1km and engine wasnt dying yet
i dont think mine has gone below about 200km!!! i always though it was bad to let it get too low incase there is too much crap in the tank from bad fuel...
yeah the manual says to try keep the tank away from empty if i recall correctly
At what km did the fuel light came on? Mine came on about 70-80km
I think it's actually 8 litres but I've used much more than 8 and it's still got heaps to go.
I have been down to 0.
at 0km, tank has ~7 litres left of petrol
I have had mine down to 0 before, still had a few litres left when finally got to the servo.
I had a Vt Berlina about 5 years ago and did around 40 km with it showing 0 to go, it wasn't a very pleasant trip wondering if I will make it or not. My brother had a VX once that hit 0 that was it he ran out.
I think it varies between cars and obviously how you drive.
When I was at 20km, the fuel needle still havent touch the bottom yet....
In Topgear season 4, clarkson took the Audi twin turbo disel down to 0, with the needle touching the bottom but it still went for about 7 miles.
the manual also states not to "top off" the tank and stop filling when u get to the first click...so that "it allows the fuel to expand with heat"...
that's something i did not know...i always top off the tank to the max! lol
Yep, if you top up you just loose it out of the overflow.
i'm filling the petrol when still got 1/4 petrol left in my tank.. just a habit.. lolz.. or see wether it's tuesday or not.. anyway, it's good having a petrol inside the tank otherwise air will come inside..
i got down to 2km . lol . haven't gambled as hard as u guys 0kms wtf!
Re:Lowest kms.to empty. You guys must like to live on the edge.
I just did 779km, light just came on. I filled it up and it took 55.22L. And I thought the light was living on the edge. LOL
I calculated my fuel consumption. The Euro could have done that (I'm in melb at the moment), and still have 20-40km of range left in the tank. (plus I did about 6 full throttle runs up to 110km/h, so the remaining range would have been higher if I drove like a miser.
I drove until 2km left yesterday... I thought it might go to 0 before I reach the caltex station.
I averaged 6.7l/100km on my last trip from Adelaide to Sydney (calculated between refills; my 05 has no trip computer). That's almost 1000km from a tank, and I certainly wasn't feathering the throttle the whole way.
Mind you, my around-town consumption is significantly higher.
This sounds like great fuel figures guys. I am amazed at the impressive stats these engines have
Yep, and to top it off, good power and tractability too.
Around town, I usually see about 600km before the low-fuel light comes on, and my driving style is, how shall we say, not conducive to good fuel consumption. Interestingly, I usually get better overall consumption from the Euro than from my other regular driver, a current Golf 2.0 FSI 6-speed auto.
These cars are underrated IMHO.
I test drove a manual euro on the weekend and was pleasantly surprised a the great sound, power and handling. It felt like i was in the subaru with the handling.
The fuel figures I would have expected to be more in the 10s basing it on the power, but it sounds like Honda are the dark horse in the way of refinement etc. in all aspects.
Once I miss calculated my trip & got down to 0. Not a good experience when I hav to travel another 15km before the petrol station. Filled up 63L.
I've gotten 800km's before 95% highway driving and could have gone much more but only had the car 2 days. Light didn't even come on.
and i thought getting 660 was good!
I wouldn't advise you guys driving until the tank is near empty, all the crap in the fuel will be picked up and then it can clog the injectors...
u guys are nuts, i got 500 today and that was a milestone for me
i dont think i've ever been under 10L/100km and i don't thrash the car (mix city/hw driving)... must be something else
in summer when i have the air con on the whole time i'm always around 11+L/100km
I'm in the mid 10's for a while now mixed town and country, summer 11's with a/c on.....HEAVY FOOT, LOL. Getting back to the subject at hand lowest I've gone is 20klm...took me 50klms to find Mobil servo lol...:)
While I was breaking in the car and drivng like a granny in the city I got about 580kms on a full tank. Had about 15kms left when my dealer gave me another full tank free.
3km =) anyone lower than that?
6.5L/100km while driving down to wakefield
I got down to 6.9 on the way to Canberra at christmas time.Sat on 100kms.in 6th.with cruise on.
I was doing like slightly more then 110 :p
On the hiway i can get from Mount Isa to Charters Towers (approx 780km) on a tank - When i filled up in Charters Towers i had 6 litres left. and i repeated the journey i got the same sort of figures (Townsville to Cloncurry - approx 790 km) Thats just sitting on the speed limit with air and cruise on. I was more than impressed with that economy - Part of the reason i got the euro in the first place...
