hmm.. carby cleaner? bug n tar remover? give it a go.. i sprayed bug n tar remover to get some glue off my front n rear bars. lol duno about brake dust but.. that must have baked in hard
degreaser?
oh yeah crazy as it may sound.. but try hot water.. maybe not boiling water.. but pretty hot water.. with a pair of dish washing gloves maybe
what did u use to scrub it off?? just the sponge or soft/medium brush??
hahaha i'd paint them white again then
Hey mate have you tried spraying meguiars hot wheels spray on them. That stuff is awesome. I had same prob on my old car and the spray worked wonders..
Try using a claybar (since it's contminants embedded in paint). Other than that, try Isopropyl alcohol on a rag.
use wd40 to loosen up the rusty brake dust
thanks for your posts guys ill give some of these methods ago
I used WD40 with a hard toothbrush on Sunday to get some pretty hardcore dust off. Needed to basically scratch it off then polish.
Like aarong said you can get it just about anywhere mate. Will cost you probably 17dollars or so. Its a pretty big spray bottle though and its a clear hot pink coloured bottle with a black sticker on it with hot wheels written on it from memory. Its good stuff, just spray and leave a while and rub off. That other suggestion was a good one too about the claybar,, that may help your cause. Other thing you could always try is something like meguiars paint cleaner i guess (kinda like a mild polish - correct me if im wrong aarong) and that may polish it off? Try the hot wheels though, good stuff.. especially if you havent left the brake dust for ages...
Read the instructions for the Hot Wheel cleaner. Your rims have to be COLD, and there is a maximum time that you can leave it on for before you get damage.
I usually spray a bit of diluted ct18 degreaser on the rims a couple of minutes before I sud them up with car wash, and that usually helps with the brake dust.
i think the dust has baked in. thats that the guy at bob jane sair happened to my mate
brake cleaner ? ? ? mite work dunno...
sugar soap + elbow grease worked for me last time
just takes time, don't expect it to just melt off
Use Super Fine Wet Sand paper to smooth things out. I'm sure you'll be able to take them out.
