Its hard to say.
We really need to know what you want to do with the rebuild. Like do you want an OEM rebuild or rebuild it with aftermarket products>
recently was wit a mate working on rebuilding sum random engine wit port polish n full engine balancing cost d bloke in d 1600 mark but it also depends on how complicated d engine is
ahhh alright im looking at getting some Toda spec C Camshafts, Toda Cam gears, Toda Dual Valvesprings , Titanium retainers and Stainless Steel Valves.
(1600 for the toda parts used )
or any other brands of aftermarket parts...
okay if i say i had a budget of 2k what i would be able to get?
so u wanted the parts put in and rebuilt at d same time man dats a big job dude d majority ull b payN 4 is labour lol id say ur looking at mayb 800-900 for labour
after all that u might need to rebuild the bottom end with stronger pistons etc
correct me if im wrong but with those cams etc u should be able to rev ur engine higher in the rpm, the stock bottom end might not be able to take it
plus factor in another 1k+ for ecu and tuning,
also u will probly need better brakes, sussy, engine mounts(recomended), new HD clutch to take the extra power, etc
damn there goes my projected budget for a engine rebuilt! anymore suggestions for low budgeters like me ? for example b16 complete head or something ?
So 2G on top of the 1600 already allocated for head.
Depends on how far you want to go? Define rebuild?
Do you want to do the bottom end? If so you'll need to allocate a whole lot more money.
I'd do Intake manifold, TB, good exhaust and Hondata with tuning will probably take you over the 2K mark, but coupled with the above parts should make for some decent power gains, but I'd go spec B cams.
There are many other threads of similar nature and it all comes down to money. Modifying NA hondas aint cheap.
lols louis i want more! =]
yeah i want it to be N/A ..dont like turbos that much
soo 2k wont get me anywhere ? coz my mechanic suggested that i do a engine rebuilt because my valves are worn -.-
how many ks your motor done???more likely its your valve seat or stemseals r worn....
its done 175 ks =]
it depends on how u looked after your engine do a comp test on the motor first and see wat psi it hits if its all ok just do a head service pnp and deck the head to bump the comp up ....if your gonna do a engine rebuild man 2000 isnt enough..... its gonna cost u around 2000 for the head service and pnp already....
To answer your question: fully rebuilt B18c + pnp average $3500-$8500
This is all dependant on what internals, valvetrain, who does the labour, etc.
Why would you want to pnp the B18c cylinder head though? those heads flow very well in stock form. I think you should consider component matching your setup. If your cylinder head needs rebuilt then just get the parts you need but increase the potential of the new head with better parts.
Silicon bronze or Beryllium copper Valve guides:
Swirl polished stainless flatface or nitrided flat faced valves:
B18c-R or H22 Lost motion assemblies:
Titanium retainers:
Oem seals:
3-7 angle valvejob:
Matched valvesprings to camshafts, I wouldn't recommend anything bigger than Pro 1's, and nothing smaller than CTR+'s:
? layer oem head gasket: depending on how much material is removed from the cyl to block surface area there are 3 layers to start with:
Arp head studs:
That is probably your 2G budget depending on where you get the labour done.
Just some food for thought:thumbsup:
i'd probably just go and get I/H/E and some suspension to make the car more fun to drive!
;) those things might make his car more fun to drive, however they wont better the condition of his engine which i dare to say judging by the disclosed wear @ 175,000 kms may possibly have worn valve guides or seals.....
for 2k just get a lightened fly wheel, I/H/E amd cam gears you'll feel a big different from the fly car will acelerate quicker
car has done a compression test will tell you the numbers as soon as i get my hands on it ...
my mechanic quoted 4k for engine rebuild with all new oem parts ... SIGH!
comp test results?
Apparently our TypeR motor rebuilt cost $3.8k (mates rates) thats changing most of the parts(all seals, piston rings, hone, water pump, oil pump, head service, valve seal and etc). Very good job as it showed on the dyno.
To do a job properly your looking at 3-4k min. Might as well buy a modified b18c that been fully rebuilt;)
just sell your B18 motor, and get yourself a nice V2 B20 build. Much better value for money, wink wink.
So true. LOL
Might as well buy a motor that has done 13sec passes down the 1/4 mile.
Pm dynodave to have a talk about rebuilds
lols hahah alright sounds like you guys are convincing me to buy someones motor ... will consider all these factors as my parents are paying for it hahahha!
will consider this .... i might get a new car
what the comp test results canh
