where did u get them installed ?
i havent installed them yet,
but 2 ppl have told me they "knock"
If youve already purchased em, there not much you can do, so best not to worry. Just get them installed and hope that you dont have issues.
D2 have short springs, they might be experiencing the knock from the pillow ball (if it comes with it) or the springs knocking each other on compression...
Probably the spring coils knocking each other.
Does the D2 come with its own upper mount?
d2 are very unsafe and noisey units as have had bad experiences with dc5 coilovers made by d2. in the end a refund was given. good luck.
what parts are knocking?
and if it is the springs are they secured correctly and whats your dampener settings?
no kidding, damn lol
is it solid pillow tops? if so it can be expexted after some use.
With D2, the more you lower the car, the more the coils are closer to each other and the springs itself are already so short... I'm sure the coils will start bumping each other out...
P.S I'm not sure if the D2 comes with the upper pillow mount in your case... Does it?
You can stop this problem (If it is indeed the coils knocking) by wrapping the coils with rubber wrap that most suspension places will sell....
i've had mine for bout 7-8 months now and no knocking sound???
Hey man, where you getting them installed in Perth, cause im getting my coilovers in a week or 2. Let me know
yes so would i, cause i know a fair few other hondas running d2 coils for the same amount of time as me and non of them have had any problems
i've heard that the old model d2s were unsafe etc etc, but the ones i got bout 8 months ago(brand new) are fine, no leaks, no weird sounds, etc etc
oh btw i dont think u adjust height on the d2s via the spring, never done it myself, i put them in as they came out of the box and it dropped my car to a reasonable height that im happy with
any1 here installed coilovers yet that they got from the real cheap trader on ebay for approx $700???? i want to know how they went coz i suspect they r not legit...
D2s height adjustable comes from being able to move the lower bracket, exactly like the Tein Flex. They do not compress the springs to lower the car.
also,
I don't see how you can make such a claim. I don't see how the D2s are any different from other similar units (and while sellers will claim superiority and preference of a brand, comm'on we all know these have similar lineage ). IMO, I think D2s are Bang for your Buck, and for someone who wants an entry level unit without the high price of the other shocks, these (D2s) get the job done.Quote:

im getting mine installed this wednesday ill keep everyone posted and if there are n e probs i encounter.. oh and if i happen to be selling some d2 coilovers...
there not the same ones ;) ahha jk
got the coilovers installed.
what can i say. its a much more enjoyable drive.
round abouts have never been so fun,
ive set them towards the softer side, but i could imagine how stiff the ride could get,
apart from that.
no complaints as of yet,
if any sounds start to happen, ill inform ya.
most of the knocking noise coming from coilovers are from lose bolts on suspension arms/forks and sways. also from the unit itself, the collars that hold the springs and shock body often (might) come lose after awhile, if its not tight enuf.
im paranoid wth suspension knocking, every now and then i spend lots of time going thru every single component there is tat is adjustable. most noise can be eliminated.
do update us when u hear some noise.
man its so much fun with the suspension,
its the first time ive driven with coilovers.
oh what a feeling lol,
Well, after 1 - 2 weeks of having the coilovers in, i havent had any problems what so ever.
no knocking.
i think it really comes down to the install, reputable places will double check, and have more knowledge than just some tyre place.
so good luck with everyone thats gonna purchase a pair,
for the price, you wont be dissapointed, definately bang for buck
a mate just bought a brand new set, leaked straight away when adjusting the damper.
made in china coilovers are fine for hardparking, just dont race with them.lol

where is the tread?
from what i have seen there are only pics and a second hand quote listed below.
:QUOTE: Ecstacy
Also new 3 piece D2's.
3 sets broke at the sept D1NZ round.
Or maybe they just didnt have their preload set right.

they're not the same 1, look at the damaged mounting holes.
whoops my bad. that must be from 1 of the other cars. theres pics out there somwhere of the s14 with just 1 damaged coilover
Does anyone actually have a link to the whole story?
to answer your d2 knocking question.
my advice is to jack up the car each end at a time and using the c spanners and other tools, make sure all the locking rings and bolts are tightened securely.
if the problem persisted it does sound like pillowball top noise but afaik only the late model dc5, ep3 etc use mcpherson strut suspension which can run pillowball camber tops.
I have a mate with Cusco pillowball camber tops for lancer/evo/fto that also made this noise after a while. This is a disadvantage of the pillowball design.

i dont know what generation d2 these are because the hub knuckle part is secured using allen bolts.
current generation d2/ksport/g4 use an upper and sometimes lower threaded locking ring which is use the C spanner to turn.
these drifters spin full lock and drift into some sick ripple strips. its no good for any suspension system.
in motorsport things break.
this is the first document case of piston rod snap i have seen. I can only assume there are many 1000s of people in Australia who use non japanese coilovers without an issue on the many brands of car you can buy in Australia. Dont lose too much sleep on it.
i dont have that problem on my d2's. install it and see for urself.
do u need new shockers, do u want a lower ride height.. are u going to avoid racing and tracking.. if so why not go for D2, :)
if you set it on soft it is quite comfortable. If you are going to track your car, please spend a good amount on proper decent coilovers or spring strut combo.
agreed, if u wanna dump your ride, not have 2 worry about taking things out back and foward, for the price there going, your actually saving,
its a good buy, and u gotta understand that those pictures above, are from heavy drifting.
pS. had them in for over 1 - 2 months, not one problem yet.
