I have a 1999 prelude V-tir and I want to get some more power out of it. My budget is $800-$1000. What things can i do to get more power out of it and what sort of power incease can i expect from these mods.
I aleady have a pod filter, and an xforce muffler.
theres a knob in the engine bay which sets the car from normal, to race spec, just locate it and turn it up to full, youll then have alot more power and torque.

I found mine today in my 06 Civic, it was located near the air con unit, i turned the knob anti clock wise and heard a whoosh of gas, i think that was the nitrous being released into the engine....either that or the air con gas escaping :o :wave:Quote:

Serious dude, since you've got the I/E done, all you needs headers to finsh off the basic mods. Then a Piggyback ECU or Fuel Management Unit so you can get it tuned to see results :)
x force headers do the job bang for buck imo
since ur on a buget try looking out for used parts
then get urself an intake maifold

dont fit it till u got some money for an ecu or piggy back and tunning so everything works efficently
chuck a turbo in like Bao! boooooo-baaaaaahhhh-psssh!
for your budget get the rest of the exhaust parts. Steel cat & headers.
ECU would be out of budget.
It's better to spend that $900 on good headers and leave the intake manifold stock. The gains from an xforce is little compared to something like Toda.Quote:

But a pod filter will only increase the sound, not the performance because it is sucking in hot air...
but street racers think noise = power remember? that's why we have so many fart cannons on camry's and shit

vtec controllers do not give you extra power, they merely alter the engagement point which, for a stock or lightly modified vehicle, can actually work against you. as has been said before, a lot of very talented honda engineers worked very hard to ensure the engagement point was at the optimum level so its usually best not to fiddle with it :)

they only change the power going to the solenoid, they dont change the fuel / timing maps.
waist of time and money if you dont do it right.

with all do respect... im sure the skyline WASNT turbo'd or they were in 5th gear lol Si has 118kw and VTir has 142-148kw, h22's have carbon weaved cylinder sleeves which are a no no for forged pistons unless you run low boost on them. and yes type s Gear is much stronger than standard and you can get higher comp pistons to fit OEM without any worries. pistons are around 800 for a descent set but you would upgrade rods and everything else not to mention you would have to sleeve the block with new iron sleeves which arent cheap and have the hole thing bored out to suit and blueprint the whole thing.... its not cheap ill tell you that. iv done it lolQuote:

Intake, headers and exhaust are essential. In my opinion, I would go for an ebay intake from America as I did. They're well priced, good quailty and very nice sounding. Here's a link:

Headers are a tough one for the H22A ludes, and something that I've been looking into thoroughly. Personally, from what I have found, I wouldn't recommend an ebay header or an Xforce or even a DC as they dont really increase power nor do they really last. For mine, I will probably either go with these:

As for exhaust, from what I've seen and read the magnaflow exhaust are very good, but make sure you get a resinator for it
Im waiting on my set of lovefab NA headers now, they should be ready and about to be sent, $1000 + shipping is what you pay but it will be worth it!

to my knowledge, 283hp. even more than the JUN Prelude (270hp). It was a custom job. H22 head on a H23 block. the engine was running on 12:1 compression. somebody with deep pockets did this in the states.Quote:

LOL STD internals on a Frankenstein what's the point it is just about impossible to do own. There are h22s over 300hp but drag only jun is 240whp

a) Cat-back light weight exhaust but check for droning noise at certain frequencies
b) Hi-Flow Cat
c) K&N filter
d) Power-chip in the VTiR shifts Kw to 161
e) 4WS or ATTS is different from my GTR in function but it can be aided with strut braces F & R which makes it corner far better than the Civic
d) aluminium bonnet saves so many Kg
e) Tanabe springs
as well as any other posts that won't fiddle with the engine that Honda makes so well !;)
