What rim brand & size? What tyre brand & size?
Car: 2000 Honda Civic Vtir coupe (stock)
Application: All rounder for best acceleration (straight runs) and manoeuvrability (twisty roads)
Budget: no budget (practical)
Note: emphasis on performance (not necessarily pretty).

Personally for performance I reckon that 15" x 6.5" is the way to go, get anything lightweight, just look around and find a style you like. Stick with the 195/55 tyre, I like bridgestone GIII's and Falken Azenis (But the falkens wear down very quickly).
On my EK4 I have Oz racing rims the same size as mentioned above. Any wider and I would think it might rub if you have your car lowered. I have used both tyres too. I haven't had a problem with them, although the falkens only lasted about 5000km for me and weren't so good in the wet, so now I am using bridgestone GIII's and they have been really good.
15x7 (Enkei looks nice too and light)
with any decent coilovers damper adjustable and height..
good all round tyres that are good in wet and dry are Bridgestone G-grids. they have lasted me nearly 20k and not much sign on wear at all
I would recommend a 16 x 6.5 wheel... any of the lightweight japanese wheels.
with 205 - 16 - 45 tyres. Depending on what you're after, there are a few tyres I recommend. For good grip but not much mileage, and good price, Falken Azenis RT-215.
For a good combination of grip and mileage, Bridgestone S03.

ok. so, around 15-16inch x 6-6.5, maybe 7inch rim (sounds like what i was expecting.........that's good to hear (7" maybe a bit to wide?)) and tyre size to fit..........bridgestones or falkens sound like the way to go with rubber aye?

i got this mad set of retreads the other day, on my 18 inch chromies yo, handles mad on my cut srpings.

ian.. you have pretty large wheels with expensive tyres.. how do you find the grip on them??

i have been thinking about this too, currently i run 16x7's
still got 10K left in my goodyear F1's so when they run out i'm thinking of going to 15's
just a note abt the bridgestone g3's.
if u want 205/50, u may wish to get the 215/50 as the pricks at bridgestone don't mention that the g3 technology uses a thinner tyre to "achieve" a wider tyres gripping performance. if the look of it aint a big deal for u, then fine...
i got 205/40/17 and when i watched them change my 205/50 re711, i thought "what the f*%^?!?!?!?" according to bridgestone, the g3 205 was abt 17mm thinner than the re711. now i got tyres that look real whimpy (thin). i dun push my car hard ard corners so can't really compare whether the grip levels are comparable or not.
Kit: i'm not sure what sort of tyre but maybe semi slicks? Falkens?......i dunno yet.
How about i put my original rims back on and put some good performance tyres?...........original civic vtir rims are 15x6" right?

I've 17" chromes on my other car and it rides like shit and is like a snail off the mark.

just a question? wat size is ur 711s? 15s or 17s? im sure there is a difference in the tyre wall between 15" and 17" tyres. Also surely between a 40 series and a 50 series tyre there is a differenceQuote:

well this may be a stupid question but when you go from different sizes, say 205/50/15 tire to a 195/55/15... is there any weight differential in the tires? everyone is going on about the weight of rims.. are the weight of tires an issue? or am i just an idiot? hehe
