Peoples,
What makes the JDM FD2 so damn quick compared to the Aussie/UKDM FN2?
They're both 2.0L vtec but the kw/hp is vastly different.
Opinions? Facts?
How can we tune the FN2 to be as competitive as the FD2 (apart from forced induction)?
Cheers

most of the difference is probably in the suspension and the fd2r is lighter.
mebi try getting coilovers in your fn2 when they become available. also you could get a exhaust shop to make a custom exhaust system for you. ecu. cams etc.
Said this before, I think with an LSD, brembos and 20bhp more, its times could come pretty close on a track
This has been covered many times. Just do a quick search.
FD = tuned for track, more hardcore.
FN = Competition for hot hatches in europe, bias towards luxury.
Both Type R's for very different reasons.
This might help,

i think its as simple as jap made honda > british made :P
IIRC, the FD2 and the FN2 are not even based on the same Chassis\
From Wikipedia
Quote:
the European Civic differs from the USDM and JDM variants in that it uses a simpler torsion beam suspension system for the rear wheels compared to the double-wishbone system in the USDM and JDM Civics. This change happened in this generation to allow the car to keep its large interior space, and actually reduce the length of the outgoing model Civic.
chassis of fd2 are much much more rigid and the suspensions are rock solid. Apparently JDM dc5 ITR and FN2 R suspension are soft compared to fd2 r
Yeah, but FD2R's suspension is still around 5.5kg/mm. Nothing near aftermarket coils with over 10kg/mm.
The FN2R is no doubt a track machine, but keep in mind guys that the FN2 is not aimed at the track. It was designed to fill a gap of a "Hot hatch" which Honda did not have. "Hot sedan" :P
Hmm.. this video might answer your question

Anyway the FD2R you guys is refering is CTR right.... the CTR = JDM FD2 Type R
yes. both FN2R and FD2R are Civic Type R.
FN2R = UK/AUDM
FD2R = JDM
Incase some of you haven't seen this, there is a comparison between the 2 Type-R's and also you can see the vast difference in Laptimes

FD2R beats FN2R... all hands down
the FD2R follows da true NSX TypeR inspirations... no idea why aus took da FN2R... is it becoz they're british or hondaAUS were too impatient to wait

the diff is not only due to a simple weight diff, brembo, and lsd.
the fd2r is sed to have the best 4 cylinder production engine in the world. Yes this includes the s2k engine. the current jdm k20a is faster than the ap2. Compared to previous jdm k20a rated at 220hp, peak torque comes in earlier, vtec point is 200rpm lower, slightly higher CR pistons. the engine is a precise peice of work.
not only this , the chassis is very well produced, with high tensile steel , making it very very rigid. along with the technology to keep all 4 wheels on the ground as much as possible during large weight transferral during braking and cornering. the fd2r feels like a FR car to drive, with no understeer on turn in, according to drift king himself.
type R built up from scratch by honda japan. king of type R
