why a new unit ? A 2nd hand one can be had for close to half the price :)
Get the swaybar + ASR off EG5. OR US ebay
Get something aftermarket imo, as all the OEM bars are hollow and thinner
If you really want one and don't mind waiting a while for shipping, there's a guy in the US I know that will do it for 450 AU landed. That includes an ASR rear brace and whatever sway bar you need.
Is it just me? or is this a myth? i have seen 1 case of it happening but f**k who is to say the sway bar was at fault.
A whiteline sway bar is probably far cheaper and the chances of you tearing your subframe is probably the same as the chances of me doing a 12 sec ET with a stock motor.
If i am wrong i would like someone to show me how many times it has happened with a whiteline swaybar
I'm yet to see more than one case of it happening, and this guy drilled holes in his subframe which would have weakened it as well.

All 1st gen whiteline reinforcement kits for the EK civic are flawed in design and i have personally seen 5 examples of subframe tearout. Heard of more.
On the EG/DC the mounting is alittle better but i have seen 2 cases and heard of a few more.
Its a flawed design made with inferior material to OEM spec. So , combined with a LARGER swaybar than OEM spec its bound to fail.

Ok i made the call and this is the story
When they released there Swaybar for the EK Civic there where some cases of it happening, they redesigned the bracket system and there was still problems with some hypo Civics (Race, Rally and ultra modified street cars) they have since redesigned all the mounting bracketry and now supply everything needed.
The new system is a tested and proven design, i got him to send me some pics of what is now a standard Whiteline fitted swaybar and everything included.

So after all that, i admit it was a problem, but is now nothing to worry about.
it never should of happened. Lazy design or cost-cutting , atleast (for the EK) the design is BETTER not 100%. It needs a rear brace to hold support the joints of the swaybar mounting IE ASR /BEAKS kit style
The fact of the matter is Whiteline have been given a bad name from there own early bad design, and they now have a proven system, so stop bitching about quality and take advantage of an Australian product that will save you plenty of money!
If every performance part was of the best quality none of us would be able to modify our cars, the cost would be far to great!!!
From the pics, the lower control arm bolt has been replaced with an allen key bolt. You gotta be joking. That bolt needs to be tigthen to 40 lbf-ft.
How are you gonna do that with an allen key???

you get a Tube spanner (or similar) and place it over the top of the Allan Key giving you more leverage, if your Allan Keys can't put up with the pressure you have shit Allan Key's
If they have done it its for a reason, i don't know what the reason is but it will be for a reason.
Yup , the current crop of whiteline "allen key" bolts are fine. You need decent allen keys (high tensile at a guess , the ones i use are fine) and as suggested a tube of sorts - a spark plug socket works wonders.
BTW yellow-dc2 , its a legacy that whiteline will have to live with. "They" failed to note simple questions of bolt tensile strength/questionable included instructions (its just a picture of the end result) and questionable "heavy duty mounts"- all queries/questions from myself and others. Later on down the track we are faced with the current events of subframe tearout. I still feel strongly that with a simple addition of a backing plate , these kits would last much longer and whiteline can have the rep it needs.
