It makes no difference whether or not vsa is on!

It's a safety feature... New cars like the WRXs have them now..
The rev limiter is on when the car is stationary... you can remove it if you want but what's the point... :)

Yeah, even the Lancer Evo VIII has this - 0-100 on the Evo VIII from standstill is now 6.1 seconds due to the rev limit (see current motor mag). If you get the Evo (or the Euro) moving - even 1k/ph - the rev limit goes.
But like NIck said- no point in the Euro. Have you tried a launch at 4500? So much wheel hop and vibration your teeth will break..
3000rpm seems enough to break traction. Nick - what RPM do you find produces the best times? You have probably done more track testing than anyone in Melb with a Euro. :)
not surprising that they have a standstill rev limiter. I too noticed in MOTOR that the evo's have a limiter.
My h22a accord even has one set at 6500rpm when in neutral and when clutch is depressed and it makes no difference if the car is moving or not, it still has a rev limiter. So the only way i can rev it to 8000rpm is when its in gear unless the motor hasnt warmed up to normal operating temp as the 6500rpm limiter is there again. I guess honda didnt want me revving their engine to 800rpm when cold lol.....then again, neither would i want to.
as for revs when launching, i cant really launch above 2000rpm without stupid wheel spin. a good way is to get the car rolling then depress the clutch, feed some power and drop the clutch out again.
the other night it was a quiet straight damp road, i was doin 60 in 4th, i put the clutch in changed back to 2nd gave it lots of revs and dropped the clutch, both wheels spun and in an instant, the speedo went to 100kph lol.
Just starting to find out what my Euro can do!
I find myself going 100km and having it feel like only 60-70. Gotta keep an eye on that speedo!
Try doing it at the speeds I do... All I can say is the car is VERY STABLE.....
i'll ahev to agree that the car holds in corners like no tomorrow in high speeds.. i've only just worked in the car a bit, 3000km, but i've adjusted to the car soi've been pushing it more and more. The potential is pretty high so far from what i can tell.
I also have to agree, i have noticed that when you are in neutral and stationary, the rev limiter is at 4500rpm. I was at the lights revving it wondering why it stopped so early, not bad tho ;)
Need a lighter flywheel for faster revs hehe ;)

From where I come from, the roads allows me to do in excess of 240km/h and I take it as an experience learning phrase to get a feel of the car at high speeds...
If you have to do crazy speeds.. please make sure there is no one in the car or on the road to take with you if anything happens and also responsibility towards anything that happens lies solely on you only...

really, i don't see what point going up to terminal speed proves.... and besides, if you really wanted to test it, your in victoria, Lang Lang really isn't that far from you, do it there, its much safer, for both yourself and everyone else on the road.
p.s. do you know what kind of stresses the engine gets subjected to on a terminal speed run?
Hey man, don't get me wrong, I never say i drive that fast in Australia. Only back in my country of origin where there's no speed limit and everyone is doing the same thing (i.e. go as fast as they can), and if you don't go along with the speed, you'll get whacked by an inexperience driver from behind, which of course you wouldn't want it to happen, especially if the person that hits you is some bloody politicians/gov't people son/daughter that has power to silence you and you ending up with your car broken, no money to replace/fix it, and if you are lucky, to be alive and left unharmed by the people who has that power (that is if you are lucky enough to get out of the accident). You will know what I'm talking about if you've ever driven in a tollway and country road in my country of origin.Quote:

As for the ridiculous speeds I do back home, it's done on a tollway where certain parts are 3 lanes wide and it's normal for everyone to speed. The roads there are fairly straight throughout the 600kms from tip to tip.
Kit, I do not disagree with you at all on what you said, yes it is stupid and totally out of line. But I take responsibility for what I do and I understand the consequences if (touchwood) anything happens.
This post got off topic because of me just trying to let everyone know how stable the car is that's I.. NOTHING ELSE Nor was it about showing off top speeds...

I had the liberty of taking a 6MT accord Euro for a spin and I must say that for a luxory car everything they say is true. It has a nice mix of handling without sacrificing ride quality.
There isn't excessive body roll at medium cornering speeds but push it a bit harder and I can see body roll being an issue.
You have to remember that it wasn't made an all out sports car, but a good comprimise was made between sports like handling and comfort.
That said, some stiffer springs and a bigger rear sway bar can help you at high speed cornering. This I noticed after jumping back into my civic with upsized front/rear swaybars.
But for what it is, the Euro has a nice balance.

try with lighter rims nick, you'll shave off some weight and therefore should be faster, at least 0.02 second faster :thumbsup:

As for the internals like cams, there is no point changing it now as it's a variable camshaft with it's so called 3 stage, meaning I have 3 cam profiles.. I might look at lighter pulleys or better still, change my radiator cap to a 1.3 bar one since the car is still new (Not recommended for older cars as the hoses won't be able to take the pressure)

I live in a mining town in WA, Which means lots of highway, and very little cops. WA has the best roads by far! QLD would be the absolute worst.
My car is still new (1100kms) so I try not to push it.
The other night I went 220km/h in 5th. I wussed out and didn't change into 6th. I will have to try during the day. We get sheep on the road here and they would hurt. I think 260km/h would be no problem, just need straight road. There is definately no shortage of that here!
I was suprised at how easy it got there. I think the only problem is the suspension is too high which makes it tend to float at those speeds. It would definately benefit from some chassis stiffening as well.
In saying this, the car is sweet and i like it just the way it is. (It won't stay that way for long though!)

I'm probably going to get D2 coilovers from evolution R but have done stuff all about it yet. I want springs but I want it done properly. It will cost about $1500 more, but hey, what's money? The missus want's a bodykit, but that can wait till after suspension and mags.
