taking it off shouldnt be too hard.
the problem comes when u have to *bake* ur headlight housing i think.
someone who's done this might wanna shed some light.
yea ... anyone pls??? like is there anything i need to pay special attention to??
wtf your doin my idea? cool man.
pm apexi he did his old ek sedan, lookd shit hot ;)
Don't bake, risk of burning plastic if you aint careful..... use steam!
with regards to taking off your headlights, its a 2 stage process:
Front bumper removal (from memory, its been a while now):
- Remove the front grill
- Remove the two screws in the front wheel arches
- Remove the 3 screws on the bottom of the bumper
Headlight assembly removal (once again, from memory):
- Just remove the screws holding the headlight, its about 3 screws i think.
- slight out the headlight assembly
Don't forget to take out the lights themselves and the rubber things on the back too. Just to make sure :D I used high temp paint and I'm happy with my results. The steam option might be a better way to go but I baked mine. Just use a cool tray (like don't leave it in the oven while it's warming up).
with regards to the thread you posted about diy ctr headlights, ive done a writeup and posted the link in ur other thread.
it'll look good on ur white car...
taking the headlights off.. screws fron the wheel arch 1 each. and just find 4 more screws just under the front bar and about 8 black round clips for the grille just hook it out dont brake the clips. and i think 3 screws for the headlight plus 2 screws for that metal thingy thats just under the h/light i think its just to support it from falling off.. u must take that off otherwise u wont be able to pull it out.
ive done it to my car.. its pretty easy..
looks good as welll..
only problem you might have is when your baking it, if the glue is too hot youll cook it, if it isnt, then when you pull it, it will snap
Iv done it too - it burns your fingers like a mo' fo' when you pry them apart!!
omg... doesnt sound easy to me at all... but i just want that CTR look.,.. so maybe its worth it..but anyone reckons normal paint shall do the trick?? or do i need high temp paint or other special paint??
u dont need a high temp paint man..y would u need it for? ur h/l bulb doeasnt go that hot. its up to you.. i would preffer a gloss black imo
N - its a fair bit of work. took me and a mate the whole day (inlcuding time between coats of paint), but it turns out really well...if your careful its hard to go wrong.
ohh...I used high temp paint.
