Hi guys,
my ek1 came without a ek4 chassis brace, and i was just wondering if it would be safe to drill holes into the chassis near the struts so i can fit a chassis brace on. will the chassis hold or tear at this point? would i have to worry about rust aswell? heres a pic of how it should look on an ek4, the parts where i circled are where im concerned about; my chassis has no holes.
what bolts would i use aswell? cheers
i thought that it would already have the holes? mines an EG and it has grommets in the holes. look in your bay and look for grommets in that area, im pretty sure you should have them man.
nope, no grommets dood, its sealed up. its got holes drilled but also like a backing plate from the wheel arch covers it up. so i know where to drill the holes just asking some questions aswell.
cant say why not i did mine had no problems just abit stiffer on the front with the strut bar

is it really necessary to run a chassis brace ?
just get a strut brace
run whatever you want guys.....
FYI
a EK4 chassis brace , will fit all EG/DC/EK's.
You just need to either drill the hole out + use 4 x bolt/nuts or use the existing mounting ( on EK4/DC2R's)

you'd probably want some bolts which are about m8 or so
when you're drill start with a small bit as a guide then move to a larger bit, less of a chance of slipping and scratching your paint :)
what you mean by M8?
head to the screw section of bunnings, m8 is the size :) followed by usually thread size and screw length
u can also get these screws high tensile from repco and autobarn etc, brand is "champion"
believe the standard is a 14mm bolt, so something that is about that size or larger should be good.
