Honda Flip Key

i got one. but haven't done the key yet.
don't think u can get them from Honda dealer.
FYI. Mazda do have this flip key. about $800 (???)

$800? that's too costly! what i know is new Mazda2 and 6 come with flip key as standard.

i would assume honda would be the only ones who can cut a car key? What is the cost to cut a key? A $30 item and probably $150 to cut lol

they got 2 types, one is 2 buttons one, and another is 3 buttons, so u can choose the right one fit your key.

TL key is the 3 buttons one, it'll fit 2003~2006 accord & 2003~2006 CRVII
RDX key has 2 buttons, it'll fit civic 2006+

yeah, genuine mazda. it's standard for every mazda, but they also sell for replacement

i bought that flip key only $20, and cut the only about $20 (quote), but depend, if u go to locksmith, they might charge u about $40. anyway, just read in my link discussion thread, that heaps covered in there

Does anyone know if the Civic FD2, using the 3 button key, can have a remote boot option (i.e. press the button to open the boot) Is there a mechanism to be installed..and how?? )

tempted to buy one but scared that the key cutter will F%$% it up. Mister mint website shows they have the latest technology to cut car keys accurately.

Today I have just completed the two button flip key off ebay on my 07 FD Civichttp://cgi.ebay.com.au/Honda-2-Button-Flip-Key-Conversion-key-shell_W0QQitemZ370049355951QQihZ024QQcategoryZ6763 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I thought this was just a swap and go job, but it is not. I got the key cut at my local locksmith and put it in, and i got a green key symbol flashing on the dash. The car would turn over but would not start. Turns out that where the transponder is located in the new shell, is now too far away from the keyhole to register with the immobiliser.

I has to pull the transponder off the board and add two wires to it and locate it separately further up in the key shell. The scary but is pulling the transponder off the board with pliers because it is superglued to the pcb and then soldering on the additional wires. You need a bit of soldering expertise to pull this off successfully.

Don't believe what the ebay ad says when they say swap module-cut key, more work is required.

Forgot one thing - you need to melt some of the plastic inside the shell with a soldering iron to make it fit properly because the lock button does not line up properly, and melt some plastic for the wires to the transponder to go through.

FYI mazda Flip keys do not cost $800
I have replaced a number of them, they may be approx half that cost.

here is a link to some instructions with pictures for the conversion to the ebay flip key. the post you want to look is by stef on 4th feb 18:50. this works for AUDM Civic and possibly other models.

hey guyz,
i opened the civic door using my mobile phone today..haha tried it today and it worked. did an experiment today, my friend called me 3 blocks away from the car and while we were chatting, he pressed the reomote towards the mobile phone and while i was standing next to the car and pointed the mobile to the car, the door was unlocked.

haha try it guyz..it's fun

If it works then thats an awesome option if you ever lock your keys in the car.... somehow.

yupe, he's right. it's different from Euro. newer Honda have the chip/TS soldered into the PCB. but i prefer not to take off the TS. will void ur remote warranty (it's about $500 cost to replace i guess). so i think, i will customize the flip key housing. anyway, let me finish my current customizing project(s) first, the flip key may be my winter project :)

FYI. i cut the key cost me $15. someone from QLD cut for only $8.00:thumbsup:
i went to key cutter in the mall. http://www.mrminit.com.au/
but price is vary from store to store.
don't go to key cutter in mall : KEYMAN (franchise too), they can't do it.

Updating this thread. just finished mine, but instead of modify the chip, i prefer to modify the flip key shell. move the position of the whole remote closed to the key, so the transponder can reach the system, covered the existing holes, and make the new holes. took me 1 month (not intense) to finished. my last words : NOT worth. better go to type-r red key shell :D

hey.. i tried this before, it DOESN'T work :confused::confused::confused:
should the remote holder press the button around the mobile's microphone ?
