hey guys my gear box is playing up
i have a d16y1 motor ...
just wondering if i could replace it with another d series gearbox or does it need to be for the d16y1 ?
any help or advice would be appreciated .

what's the problem with it? details?
yer any d series motor should do it, iam pretty sure,
atm my civic d16y1 does not go into reverse smoothly, usually crunches.
seems us d16y1 people have weak gbox's!!!!!!!!!! mines fudged up the ass 2!!!!!! and its really annoying, apparently it costs 1400 for a rebuild with new clutch, and 1000 for a 2nd hand 1 installed... fudge that lol car only cost me 5 grand im not paying that much juts for the gbox!
dude everyone's d-series gearbox crunches going into reverse, just put it in a forward gear until the car goes back down to idle, then change it into reverse. and its like $400-$500 for a new gearbox, considering a full d16y1 engine+box is like $1100
wat do u mean a 'new' gearbox? the cars 14 years old, how'd u find a new gbox for it :confused:

theres one on eBay...its 800 but he got new clutch and 150xxx kms on it so yer, 700 is average price,

lol wats wrong with crunching into reverse, is this happening while the car is at a stop? if so then dats really screwed
Mine does also. Pretty much everytime, when i am stationary. It also crunches changing from first to second. What causes this, Clutch or Synchro gears? I wanna rectify it and was planning on getting a new clutch but have read a bit on here today and somewhere i read its the synchro gears. Which is gonna be a bitch to fix. Riley.Quote:
