what will i run in a 1/4 mile?

Hey gotz a integra 94mld, non v-tech
it has

16's with race tires

A 2.5 inch exhaust to a cannon with a 4.5 inch tip (sounds good? Hmm)

Will have air intake done too

But that’s about it,

Other than that she’s pretty stock, so my question is that if I took it to a timed drag in a quarter mile, what will I run?

Seriously, I’m not expecting much, kind of know how to drive and know that that really matters, but has anyone had experience on a stock integra in times and what have you run?

What are 'race' tyres :?:

they are special tyres, usually are sliks or v tred tyres that allow for better grip and faster resistance to accelaration

hahahaha i think wynode knows what race tyres are he wanted Clarification that you knew what they were... ie r spec, full slick etc.

depends on how good a shifter you are... you *might* do it in low 15's but not likely given no vtec.

So they make you go slower? hehe

Anyways depending on whether the yare semi slicks or just high pefomance street tyres, things like driver skill have a lot to do with it. Eg. Launching and shifting with the first being the biggest limiter (it doesn't take a rocket scientist to go through the gears quickly).

non-vtec dc2 can't even beat an auto dc5...
auto dc5 does a 16.5s 1/4...

my best was 15.8 - 95 GSi, exhaust, 17's, air intake

if this is your first time drag racing, then dont be surprised if you get a bad time, im talking 17's+. Ive seen guys with s14's and such get 16-17's on their first try. Take it as a learning thing, and you should get better with practice.

Bottom line: dont expect anything less than a mid 16.

man you are dreaming to get 15's....a stock as a rock DC2r does high 15s....so unless u decide to to get a b18cr and drop the weight to below a 1000kg

i say mid 16s for non-vtec
well it all on how ur shift really

i did 15.65 in mine

2 1/4 cat-back, short ram and pod, heavy duty clutch

that was with 175's, so i would imagine i could do better with better grip :P

but was my first time
took 4 runs to get under 16

I know about the driving part I am experienced in that side of things but mainly didn’t know what to expect out of my teg. Its better to hear straight from the horses mouth.
Me I will be very happy to pull in any 15’s. I think that would be pretty good to get out of her. I know it sounds a bit over the top but 15’s is to far from 13’s and later if I can do a few mods, to let me take off two seconds to get to 13’s I will be happy. And yes I know that two seconds is a lot of time to shave off when you get down to that scale of things . But every time I run I expect to do it properly and do everything right.

Eg: make the lighter and use some kind of octane boost.

I will be using either Dunlop Formula FM901's or Sumitomo HTRZ2's as tires, these are v tred tires, but I also have a set of slicks on ligther rims.

hey I never said under 13 I said around 13, and it isn’t really that hard, if you know the right people to help you out.
What do you think would be do for 10K?
To me that’s a lot of money to me for a few bits and pieces?

i somehow think 13s would require a bit more than a few bits an pieces, some weight reduction and octane boost!

unless the weight reduction your talking about consists of removing all panels and interior a la a Mini Moke :)

i did 14.2@94mph on a 96 spec JDM dc2 type R
on street tyres
mods: cat back exhaust , stock intake , full trim.
meremere drag way ,auckland NZ.

stock dc2r can do high 14's to low 15's ( this figure comes from best motoring video)

Ok forget the last bit, but the first 2... if u dont want to take the chance with NOS + Cops use the extra money to buy a bigger turbo and front mount :P

if u FI it, also think about insurance costs. 10k?? hahaha

well under 10k if u have any clue about doing anything urself. insurance will be around he same as any other car with exhaust. If ur a checkbook racer, u wont get into the 13's with under 10k.

i never knew the 10k included insurance.. i think its possible if it doesnt' included insurance.. its not just about the engine tho..
eg. traction will play a big issue in ur 1/4 times... tires (slick/semi slicks), suspension etc
also weight reduction will help.. ie.. CF bonnet, light weight rims, stripped interior..all will help and will be needed IMO, if u want 13s.. as well as the FI setup

basically, if you look around on other threads you'll see that a lot of gsi's with basic mods pull high 15's to mid 16's.

seeing how Stock Vti-r's does mid 15's, that makes the Vti-r faster then the dc2r does it not?..

i have to say in my vtir i launched it wif a gsi at the lights and in first gear he kept up pretty well (mb im crap *shrugz*) although as soon as 2nd gear kicked in i pulled away i dont think after a 1/4 of a mile he would b 5 seconds behind mi

I Managed a ET: 14.9 on my mates DC2 VTI-R at Calder park, I was very surprised how fast his car could really go! it was the only run I had coz my mates best was a 16 flat! I guess I drove better than him? and he had like 2 - 3 runs untill I gave it a go and managed that time! I shall ask him if I can borrow the timeslips so I can post them up!

i got a 15.7 my first ever try at track racing

17's, pod filter, 2 inch catback, stock headers, system on board spare tyre jack everything on board and im 6'2 100kgs check my timeslip its there

17s!!!!!!! if you still have your 15's swap em back and run a better time.

You should expect mid 16's. When and where r you gonna race it cos my gsi will be ready 4 its second meet soon.

dc2r dont do high 15's mate. they run approx 15 flat, depending on skill of dirver,tires, and how good your motor is. etc i recon youl run between a 15.8 nad 16.8. :honda:

What? That is Honda CRV territory, not a teg! My 16yo Prelude ran a 16.126s so the GSI should be pretty close to that I reckon.

I did 15.3's one year ago with 47psi tyre pressure. Holy shit time. I will do it again in these few week.

well my gsi ran 14.2@100mph and i only spent 5k on the turbo conversion
That was on 6psi and its runnin 9psi at the moment so if i dont get into the 13's theres sumthing wrong. Remember $5000 is all i spent people

I know its been a while now but I took some of your advice and ran it.
To refresh you all, stockie 94 gsi wit air intake, 16s rims with race slicks with a tad of a octane boost in a half tank of fuel.



I ran at Calder Park Raceway Melbourne on Friday 22 April 2005


The best story of the day was running a N/A Toyota Supra and commin on line with it only beating me by one tenth of a second. I liked that ones because he had big rims, kits and looked all flashy. Here was me in my little Honda giving him a run for his money.


Anyway this was the first time i had ever ran on a Legal Drag and it took a few runs to get good times, my best time was 16.005 at an average speed of 67.31mph and a max speed of 85.46mph.



This time did not however reflect my fastest speed or average speed



Fastest speed on the night was 86.38 mph



Fastest average speed 68.26 mph



So in the end a better time can be achieved but it is up to the driver.

I agree I wasn’t the best driver on the night too.



(P.S to Mr. "JOYRIDE" you spell "vtech" I spell "v-tech" we all aren’t anal car geeks)
