jus wondering why some vtec crossovers are clearer and more noticeable then others from the same motor. stock for stock in terms of internal mods. all have the usual basic mods like i/h/e.

intake plays one of the biggest roles in the engagement sound
your set up has the gay dual butterfly intake manifold
it comes on in stages so less noticable
and the ecu settings for that set up
for the vtir teg
Depends on the difference between the low and high cam. If the difference is huge like on B series, then you can hear the change. If the difference is small like on the K series on the Euro, then you can barely hear it.
just curious, if u change the vti-r manifold to say a skunk2 one, wat intake will fit? im assuming the position of the throttle body will change after u change the manifold...
I believe you can re-use your current TB (anyone can confirm this) with a Skunk 2 manifold. and yes, the position of your TB will be higher.Quote:

did a little read up, jap spec GSR motors came with that gay secondary butterfly's that open up at 5800 or so and vtec engages at 4400. kinda lame and gets people confuse trying to hear wen vtec comes on. honda did this to gain more mid range torque making up for the gay GSR tranny's. ohwell as long as my vtec works i guess.
some other random stuff was that some GSR swaps somtimes forget to wire the IAB solenoid so they dnt have that sound wen 2ndbutterfly's open up. others remove that buttefly so that they can achieve louder vtec and jus one sound.
if you want your vtec to sound louder, get Skunk 2 IM and change your vtec crossover higher.

Just a note, VTi-R approximate equivalents are:
GSR = US
SiR + SiR-G = JDM
im not referring to throttle body size. if the position of the throttle body is higher, then the entire piping for the CAI must be moved higher, however the injen intake is a pretty dam tight fit as it is right now. so would u use a CAI designed for a Type R?Quote:

no, you will need a type r on gsi intake because of the difference in height of the dual runner manifold on the vtir.
if you change to a skunk 2 then either of the two will work but not vtir/gsr cai's as they bend down near the TB to allow for this different posission

just get a single stage intake manifold..
..dual intake runners suck :(
