Thanks for doing the dyno test. i'm putting the same intake in this sat! well at least looks like the same simota intake
6.2kw gain , at the wheels on a jazz ? Thats atleast 10kw at the engine.
You dont get these gains on larger engines from just replacing the intake.
So...does it feel any better or is this just a number ?

bear in mind.. ppl from fitfreak is a worldwide community.. including the USA n Europeans which has high reading dyno.. at best you are looking at 3-4kw atw max..
65kw atw seems a lil higher than normal la.. lol..lesser than 20% drive train loss..lol..high 50s to 60kw atw den is jus nice..also jazz lose more kw atw for auto..
this guy in ozhonda did headers,hi flow cat,(no Bpipe) with muffler i assume, crankshaft pulley & a APEXI INTAKE!!!... got 67.9kw atw.. lol.. how a stock jazz got 65kw atw if its not high reading.. cant gain only 2.9kw with all those mods i am sure..

I find this hard to beleive from a intake that has the filter located in a hot engine bay. It might get a few more kw's on a dyno since the car's only been running for a few mins but after 30mins of driving I'd like to see how effective it is then.

On the defence for SRIs with heatshield and placement, air generally comes from forward motion, flowed from the outside. So how fast the heat from engine transfers to the air is quite negligible. 30 mins of driving would definitely warm / hot up the engine bay. But dont forget, most of the time you will be driving, and so from the looks of the pics, when air goes into the engine bay, it gets sucked by the intake as well, so its not exactly that bad that you will be sucking air from around the heated engine. Not sure if the same logic can apply to "CAI"s when the pipes closed to the engine get so hot that it warms up the air trapped within the pipes itself. Again I think its negligible.

say its 60-65 kw atw stock ok? lol.. but CVT jazz still loses more than manual jazz anyway.. but frm ur figures.. Toda Intake(well known in Aus) and Custom catback added 6kw atw... It already proves that the 6.2kw atw gain frm a simota airbox shouldnt be seen as a guide of intake gain in australia.. at least we agree on that..
I would defintely buy that 6.2kw atw simota intake for my gf jazz if thats a geninue aussie dyno approved gain..lol.. till then.. no chance for a SRI as mentioned.. sucking engine bay heat.. in a jazz gaining 6.2kw atw..

just need to go to a $2 shop and find the Thick Foil sheeting for stove top wall around $2-$10 up to the area you in. and lay it out so it blocks air from the engine side and let air in from under the light. Make one big U shape for the bottom and another for the top.(This is just a Cheap Ass way) One thing good about the Foil is it don’t heat up and if you are Very keen about the heat just Double up the sheeting!

With a head shield then it changes the game a little. I've always been a fan of the CAI pipe up to air box (OEM or Aftermarket) so the air box keeps the filter cool with the filter still close as to not loose low dow torque.

hint hint, i got an 04 jazz (jap built) but dunt noe about later models, do you jazz owners feel that your throttle body warms up (actually hot) after 30 min of driving? My jazz has a coolant bypass running through the throttle body so ummmmm it heats up the air before entering the intake manifold, so my cold air intake does shit all. The whole point of this is to stop the throttle valve from freezing up in cold conditions. i live in qld we never get sub zero degrees so i disconnect the water bypass hoses and wow you can feel the difference.
this may not apply to some of the new jazzes built in thailand cause conditions over there are hot and do not need this stupid bypass thingo.
I have some materials that is not only heat proof, but fire proof too if you wanna build one :) i actually tried burning the sheets and they dont burn through
doesn't sound like you own a jazz lol, take a closer look, the tb on jazzes are attatched to the intake manifold and the intake manifold loops around the side to the top of the rocket cover, it does not touch the rocker cover. More likely heat generated is from a bypass hose linked to the radiator., it's like liquid cooling on a cpu(the tb), but reverse ie you transfer heat onto the tb and warm the air up
Oh really? In the past month and a half I have driven 2-3 times in sub zero temps..... not 30 mins out from Brisbane too.
Having said that.. I have the coolant blocked off from going to the TB (EK4) and experienced no sticking/freezing of the TB driving in such conditions during the winter for around 4-5 years. In my opinion the real danger for it freezing over is when there is sustained WOT operation were there is large volumes of air moving through adding to the chill factor. Also rising warm air from the engine bay with a closed hood would lessen this chance.... its not like the intake is sticking out the hood like on a doorslammer.. where they are constantly spraying alcohol on the throttles to stop them freezing over.
first of all it's plastic and the part which comes in contact with the engine is a loooooong way from the tb housing plus. so umm it might burn ur hand if you drive 3-4 hours straight. Theory, what theory?? i actually did it and felt it myself. the fact you live in thailand and thailand is quite warm, the engine bay is already hot on top of the grilling conditions over there.
ps: Australia, it is alot colder than thailand
hmm sounds like your intake manifold is metal. No wonder it's hot. Ausdm ones are plastic (like the ozhonda background). Well my mod isn't too great for metal manifolds.
by the way, if honda designed stock intake systems to be heated by placing the majority of the manifold over the engine, why did they even bother with a coolant bypass hose to warn it up even further. Hmmmmmmmmm

calm down......it just about the intake guys......for m opinon , no matter what brand u change for the intake tat not gonna make a big different, unless you upgrade all the others togther as welll as maybe end up you will feel lot more on the engine responce than the at wheel power increase.
i got intake in mine but havn't dynoed it yet to get any figures, any body went n dynoed theirs yet?
